Played from taskbar shortcut and have a save issue
Hi ! So after a fiew times playing from the Steam library, I pinned the game in my taskbar so I could launch the game more directly (but I was always online on steam, just didn't launch the game from it). But after hours of game, I tried again to launch from Steam, and I have the save issue than others I read here but in the reverse sens it seems.
When the game launches from Steam, I have to create a new caracter (with my steam name), my inventory and skills will start from scrach, but my village and people are in the game as usual. I checked my firewall and autorized the game so there is no issue from that.
I don't find any save files on my computer so I want to make shure that I can save all I have done. Do you see a way to fix it ? Thank you by advance ! :)

Don't create a shortcut to the .exe directly. You can create a shortcut to pin on your taksbar, but do it through Steam: https://imgur.com/a/HSjqyjF

Steam does it the proper way, and it would be the same as launching from the library. But if you start it from the .exe instead (through your own shortcut), the game doesn't have access to the Steam features; like SteamID that it links with your saved characters, or the DLC if you have it, or the co-op mode etc.

If you created a character while not playing through Steam, I'm afraid that character is now linked to your offline-situation, instead of being linked with your SteamID.
So if you launch through Steam now, the game will look for a character linked with your SteamID and is not able to find one, so asks you to create a new one.

There's a bit more detailed explanation in the pinned post https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/app/1129580/discussions/0/4027970580223671082/ under "When loading my Oxbow save my character is gone..."

So you either have to continue playing "offline" with your .exe shortcut (not recommended), or you'll have to make a new character.

Or, If you like I can ask the devs if they have the time to edit your savegame and add your SteamID in there. Can't promise they will though, but I can ask.
I would need your savegame then:
You can find your savegame in %LocalAppData%\Medieval_Dynasty\Saved\SaveGames.
To upload it, just use a site like wetransfer.com to create a link for you that you can paste here.

Hi Morri, thank you for your answer, I understand the issue. That's really nice, if it's possible it would be great to give a try to edit my savegame ! Here is the link of my latest save (if it's expired I will do another one) : https://we.tl/t-oifkW7LjZL
Thank you for your help ! :)

The devs also need a save from you with a char created with your SteamID. So if you quickly could create one and send that one too, then they can make sure to put the same tag on your old save's character.
Here it is : https://we.tl/t-6uLhKFiSSQ
Thank you !
