I really like this game, but sadly not being able to recommend this game.

It seems like, that this game is experiencing a lot of server issues, kicking you out of matches near end, leaving you with zero rewards or progress for your played match.

If it happens in single cases, OK it happens.
But me and my friends experienced it recently a lot nearly everyday in our sessions, that either my friend gets kicked or that I get kicked out, literally ruining our matches.

Thats no fun and I see no effort from the Developer to fix it, since they are rather busy to create and sell us DLC Contents which costs more than the game itself.

Really really fun! Very much have to grind if you wanna get anywhere, but once you get going and level up the battles feel so intense and fun asf. Def recommend if you wanna smash a bunch of heads in with some friends :D

Let me start saying I have ZERO knowledge of the Warhammer universe and lore. My only previous experience with this universe was with Space Marines 2, which I refunded, just to a month later get it for free from AMD when I bought a new GPU.. Never really gave it another shotI. With that said, here is my story with Darktide:

I picked up this game after seeing a friend play it, and it just so happened to also be on a good sale (regular price in my country is R$ 149,95 and i managed to buy it for R% 37,50, which is roughly 8 dollars). Now, while watching this friend play, i could also see that this would be kind of game due to its relentless lightning fast pace and that, while it gives more than enough solutions to tackle anything and everything it throws at you regardless of difficulty, i would say those solutions are 30% based on understanding and clever usage of game mechanics combined with 70% player skill (mostly movement and reflexes being the key ones, and rhe ones i struggle the most).

These would be no problems 20 years ago. Nowadays due to age, lifestyle and life choices during the aforementioned 20 years. I usually gravitate more towards games that are just as complex as Darktide, if not more, and I'll give Path of Exile 1 as an example. It's a game that people say you need to learn and research an
encyclopedia level of amount of information just to be able to start playing. While I completely disagree with that,
if you are willing the learn over time how the game works (and indeed, its a lot of information, but not
encyclopedia levels) you can have 0 gaming skills, be the equivalent of a crippled amoeba with them skills, you can be just as bad as I am at Darktide, but you have the option to outsmart the game, with the way you build your character, with understanding of how to maximize damage scaling, knowledge of the enemy you are facing (and its much harder uber version), and still roll over anything the game throws at you.
But Darktide is no PoE. Here, there is no option to do that. I can have the most meta build, with maxed out weapons, perks, curios and blessings, but that alone does not guarantee victory, like it would in PoE. If I play poorly, its pretty much a guaranteed loss and a detriment to your team, and that's why i tend to stay away from games like this, in which not only i must have full understanding, but also demand that I "sweat" every single game in order to have a high enough win rate. In PoE, and I could also use Warframe as another example, I can engage in the hardest endgame activity while watching Netflix, and I lnow I will beat it.

So why am I giving Darktide a (VERY strong) recommendation? Because it was the first game in a long, long time that gave the interest, motivation and will to actually practice and try to overcome whatever mechanical skill that I think (or know for a fact) I lack and keep at it until I actually overcome it. And for me that's huge.

Will that make me reach the highest difficulty the game currenly offers? I don't think so. But Darktide made me be wiilling to put on the effort, the time, the learning to go as far as I am humanly capable of reaching. Om to me personally, that's huge.

What made Darktide success at that front? I point to the perfect mix of sci-fi and horror settings we go through during the missions.I could mention the absolute joy that just shooting your favorite weapons give you, as it has just the perfect sound, feel, impact and response you expect from a great shooter. Maybe was the banger soundtrack that I can easily say is one of the best I ever heard, from a composer that, if you played any other game he has worked on, makes for no surprise here as well, I could bullet point a million things that make this game wonderful in many ways. But I prefer to think that it was the feeling I have to be on my toes every single second of a match, paying attention to enemy spawns (at least until I learn them all), which to me is kinda stressing, so would be a big negative at this point in my life which I play games to relax. It was a reason I put down a refunded many good games that I simply didn't felt compelled enough to put any effort on. /here it's the oposite. It might be the biggest positive amd the reason I will invest time to improve and push those harder difficulties.

To close this off, this might be a positive review and a strong recommendation for very different reasons you might expect or see on the others thousands of positive reviews this game has. And, don't misunderstand me, it's an AMAZING shooter that is a blast to play, even more with friends. But the fact that what hooked was a more personal reason that all the positives the game has to offer, is what makes me recommend it. Even if you have to wait for another sale, at least give this gem a shot. Who knows if it might personally resonate with you too.
