never got to experience this game in its prime, but it always looked interesting to me, 20 bucks seems interesting, but if its dead i dont really want to waste my money

Crashing at start up and a message pops up next time I try to launch the game asking to start in safe mode, which also crashes. Currently re-downloading the game onto my C-drive (couldnt just move it over for some reason) as I heard this could be the issue but if that doesnt fix it does anyone have any clue whats wrong?
