Did Nightdive lie? There's been NOTHING about SS2:EE for years, not even an update or anything.

Googled this and was met with nothing particularly conclusive, I'm just wondering how enemy respawning works? Is it mostly lower-level enemies that repopulate corridors and beefier encounters stay dead, or is it just everything after enough time passes? And are there are mods/settings that influence this if I find it overwhelming?...

I own the original (1999) version of the game but NOT the remaster. Is there much to the remaster that would make spending $30 on it worth it over just playing the original version I already own? This is of course putting delisting controversy aside and moreso what the actual two versions offer ^^...
