Surprisingly great
Over the years I have played all of the editions of Borderlands and most of the DLC's Including Borderlands 3 despite the difficulty of playing it on a Mac.
I overcame this obvious obstacle using CrossOver and the PC version of Steam on an M1 14" MBP.

All were good in their time but Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel which I did not discover until after Borderlands 2 still shines out as a high point.

The game is so fast moving and well worth playing more than once. For example I learned after my second play through that completing Springs early Side Missions awards you an electric sniper rifle which combined with an electrocution proof shield, picked up from a Kraggon kill I think, makes taking out the very annoying Deadlift a breeze.

Everything in this version of Borderlands is worth doing, from shooting those red based "meteorites" in the beginning levels to opening every locker, revisiting chests because they sometimes repopulate and in short, killing everything you can and doing every side mission always proves rewarding but it's the pace of the game I love. Playing as the immensely overpowered Athena I can complete a mission in 30min and love every second of it. Yes I die occasionally but if I didn't the game would not be challenging enough.

So, to sum up, the whole series is good Borderlands 3 is a visual delight but for sheer game playing enjoyment Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel is a FPS that's hard to beat and being an Aussie, although some of the dialogue is cringe-worthy (we don't really sound like that) it is also amusing.

If you havent tried it "give it a go mate"

It takes a while to get used to the huge areas, the lower gravity and the O2 kits, and the story starts a little slow (too much talking on Helios, and then Elpis is way too empty when we land on it). You really have to be invested in the franchise for this to work, and even then most people turn away from this game. I did that too at the start.

But it's easily on par with the rest. After playing thousands of hours total in this franchise the Pre-Sequel is my favorite. All six Vault Hunters are fun to play, new mechanics are very welcome, the story is great (both the writing and player agency), the music excellent, and it has the best story DLC. I honestly think this game has the most personality in the franchise.

If this game had as much content as BL2, BL3, or even BL1, it would probably be remembered as the peak of the franchise.

There are some legitimate criticisms leveled at this game. The plot being poorly written, the characters not being as funny or as memorable and a lot of the zones looking very same-y which .. I mean, you're on a moon, of course it's all going to look the same but I still get there being very little change of scenery.

I agree the plot was unusually weak even with how little sense BL games' plots usually make and most of the new characters do feel weaker than the other games.

However, faults aside, the game play is just as good as the other BL games and if you want more Borderlands, this game has it so it's worth picking up on sale for sure. I haven't been able to play it yet but I heard the Claptastic Journey DLC, or whatever it's called, is worth buying the game itself for. I'm going to grab it when I can.

The writer from BL 2 , Asked for More $ - WHICH WAS WELL DESERVED. For the next game.

Developers refused, SO, Only his sister which did the voice for TIny TIna. Stayed.

I learned early on in BL2 that side missions provide benefits that help with the main storyline. Whilst those sides are purely optional, the kit given definitely helps with some of the tougher opponents in the main storyline - so I made sides pretty much compulsory and the main just a path to the next set of sides.

What I like about TPS is encountering some backstory relevant to BL2. I've just finished a mission in which a couple of threshers are sent to Hammerlock, who's discovered one of them has a taste in human flesh and he's thinking of calling the other "Terry". You can guess how that turned out...
