Getting certain games to recognize wireless xbox one controller.

I am having issues with games (Wreckfest) detecting my wireless xbox one controller when streaming to my laptop. It recognizes the controller on both the host and client machines in big picture mode
but doesn't show input when I play the game. What's strange is that when I stream through the steam link app on my android phone (with the controller connected to the phone) the game picks up my

Changing Steam Controller configurations does nothing.

I can change the configurations in game.

But the buttons that have been assigned new keys DO NOT work.
When I display the Controller Input Display It just shows a blank key after I remap the button
client and steam link, factory reset the steam link. Nothing has changed and I'm still having issues.

This does work on the pc client.

Please help.

Wireless xbox 360 controller works in menu but not when streaming
