I got this problem too. With the increased popping with added input from the controller. No network issues. Tried multiple suggested solutions, didn't change things.

To be clear, this is NOT input lag. Simply, any controller use on the steam link causes big skips, chops, jumps etc.

First game I tried was rocket league and it was a hot mess - felt like having over 1000ms ping. I tried GTA afterwards and it was exactly
the same, felt like around 1000ms ping. Sent my friends a video of me tooting the horn with the controller sticks in it and they could all see/hear the delay.

I'm trying to play a non-Steam game. Steam was screwing with the native controller config for the game so I set the "Steam input per game" option in Big Picture Mode to "forced off". This solved the
issue when playing this game directly from my PC, but the issue persists when using the Steam Link hardware. I tried to change the controller settings for the Steam Link itself but it didn't help. Anyone

I know steam streaming creates event devices (and js devices?) in /dev/input via /dev/uinput.
The issue is
that the /dev/input/event** that represents the x360 controller is outputting mouse/keyboard events when it should only be outputting js events.

one wireless controller, I am now getting mouse input with my controller in Big Picture and in-game (Hades). Previously had no issues.

In Big Picture when I move my left stick I can see the mouse

My Xbox Wireless Controller (new one with share button) does connect to SteamLink (beta) over Bluetooth but the performance is aweful. The input lag makes it pretty unplayable.

Perf stats show
input latency <1ms and using a usb-c cable completely fixes the issue. So Bluetooth is definitely the issue here.
