great strategy game which never ages, 10/10

Total War: Warhammer is a solid and enjoyable entry in the Total War series. It successfully translates the rich Warhammer Fantasy world into the grand strategy format, introducing fun races, iconic lords, and large-scale battles that feel distinct from the historical titles.

However, its relevance has been almost completely overshadowed by its sequel. Total War: Warhammer II is such a comprehensive upgrade in nearly every aspect campaign mechanics, faction diversity, quality-of-life improvements, and overall polish that the first game now serves primarily as a content pack. Its main purpose is to unlock its races and map for the colossal, combined "Immortal Empires" campaign in the second game.

Standing alone, it's a good game. But in the shadow of its superior sequel, it feels more like a foundational prologue than a must-play experience.
