Train Sim World: Festival of Remasters

This month, we're glad to finally release the long-awaited Great Western Express Remastered, but it's not the only route that's seeing some love - we're excited to also announce that across the next month, you'll be able to enjoy new remasters for Köln-Aachen and East Coastway, ensuring that these older add-ons get the latest lighting features, environment improvements and updated timetables to give a whole new breathe of life into the routes!

We've had some fantastic feedback on our previous Remaster to the West Somerset Railway route, and we can't wait to share more with you - with all updates completely free of charge for existing owners of the content.

Let's take a look at what's coming up!

Great Western Express Remastered - Releasing This Friday!

Here we go - the date is booked, it's almost time to get your hands on the Great Western Express Remaster, arriving just in time for Festival of Rail, and on all platforms this Friday 6th February, with an update at 10:00am UTC.

Back in December, we shared a first showcase of the remastered features, which you can watch again below, and highlighting the huge overhaul the route will recieve to the timetables, environment, loco features and much much more.

10 Minutes of Great Western Express Remastered

Here's what you can expect to land with the upgrade:

New Timetables

New 2017 Timetable (4,674 services & 1,335 playable). Layers up to 23 UK Add-ons to cerate the second-largest Uk timetable in TSW.
Full London Underground Timetable. All Circle and Hammersmith & City line services playable using a Class 484.
Full Heathrow Connect Timetable using a Class 350 in a Heathrow Connect inspired livery to represent the Class 360

Remastered Updates

Full lighting overhaul
Route scenery and texture overhaul
2 new stations with full London Underground branding; Royal Oak Station and Westbourne Park.
New London Underground platforms at Ealing Broadway
Massive audio upgrade, including brand-new rail singing sounds
All GWE and Diesel Legends stock upgraded (New wheel blur, guard mode, suspension, reworked lighting/weather vfx).

As a special treat, we're also going live this evening to give you all a showcase of what's to come in the Great Western Express Remaster!

Announcing Schnellfahrstrecke Köln-Aachen Remastered - Coming Soon!

Hot off the heels of the GWE Remaster is a German classic - Köln-Aachen Remastered, coming soon to Train Sim World 6, with great support from the FolezzWorld development team!

These changes will perfectly compliment the Köln-Aachen Timetable Update[live.dovetailgames.com] we shared back in June last year, which was our first phase of updates to the route, and took the service count total from 552 services to over 4000 (with all relevant content installed).

We're excited to share that many further updates are coming as part of the second phase for this remaster, and together with these new route improvements, we're hoping you can all experience a familiar journey with a whole new feel!

As a reminder, similar to our other Remasters, this is a completely free update to owners of the Schnellfahrstrecke Köln-Aachen route add-on in Train Sim World 6.

East Coastway Remastered - Coming Soon!

Finally, completing our trifecta of remasters, we're giving some love to another beloved UK add-on - East Coastway Remastered will also be headed your way shortly!

This remaster comes courtesy of Liam from Grump Dog Games, and the Rivet Games team, and will help uplift the route to the latest TSW6 standards, including TOD4, passenger announcements and train faults, as well as also helping support the upcoming Class 171 & 377/3 pack to bolster the timetable with the 171, both developed from the Rivet Games team.

To be clear, whilst the remaster will aim to support the Class 171 & 377/3 pack, it will still standalone as it's own free-of-charge upgrade to existing owners, and provide a significant overhaul to the route add-on on it's own for everyone to enjoy.

help trying to get the game running

hello sorry for bothering but i've got tsw6 and recently i tried to get it running but every time i try to start it i get stuck on a loading screen but i have no mods but i've got quite a large dlc selection the selection of dlc: all of the uk dlc here's what i've done/tried: .deleted all of my mods .verified my files .moved the save onto desktop to make a new save .waited through it (3 hours) .uninstalled the class 805 dlc .updated/clean install nividia drivers .tried running without windows optimisat...

Avanti West Coast Class 805

This exciting Add-on introduces the Avanti’s newest generation of long-distance trains. Players can look forward to stepping in the cab of a 5-car BR Class 805 BMU presented in Avanti’s striking livery. What’s particularly interesting isn’t what it does have, but what it doesn’t have: the traditional yellow front. The result is a cleaner, more aerodynamic aesthetic that sets it apart from earlier members of 80X family.

Timetable & Gameplay

The new timetable included in this Add-on are two new 2025-era timetables covering stretches of the West Coast Main Line.
Covering a complete 24-hour day, the timetable delivers a with 510 fully driveable services. Modern rolling stock is used extensively to reflect the 2025 setting, while carefully selected legacy traction remains in place to add authenticity. The end result is a cohesive and contemporary timetable for the Birmingham–Crewe route, designed to stand confidently alongside the new WCML South 2025 timetable.

Train Sim World 6 Update - 22nd January 2026

Our next Train Sim World 6 update is now live, with various fixes for both core and add-on content. These include fixes for some longer standing bugs like the LNER Class 801 fuse cabinet issue and the DB BR 101 LZB distance counter.

We also have fixes for Train Sim World 6 specific content, and we will be continuing to improve your experience with more fixes to come.

Be sure to wait 24 hours for the update to appear, and make sure to check if you have auto-update switched on as this might have installed the update in the background without you seeing it actively appear.

Resetting the driver camera now returns it to the default angle.
Announcements no longer overlap or queue incorrectly.
Updated Temporary Speed Restriction signage with more accurate Lf1 sign visuals.
Improved axle physics stability for very small-radius axles.

Added missing level crossing signal at Ludwigshafen Rheingönheim, and between Dresden‑Kemnitz and Stetzsch.
Added missing PZB magnet for a distant signal near Kaiserslautern (towards Hochspeyer).
Adjusted lighting at the Weissig station to better reflect its abandoned state, especially at night.
Fixed a PZB magnet not triggering 1000 Hz influence when required.

So many train operations are constantly breaking for whatever reason, that will prevent your train from running properly. And they're aware of this so they put in a "I'm stuck, reset train physics" button in the pause menu. But sometimes that doesn't help and you'll be sitting on a motionless train, resetting it, applying and releasing brakes and throttles, flipping circuits, for 5-10 minutes just to get the thing rolling. And this is with the option for tripping Events turned off. And even when you have everything set correctly it still won't roll.

And for complicated American locos like the SD70ACe there's no tutorial on setting up Distributed Power, no explanation for setting up consist, the Distributed Power button, Locomotive Monitor button just don't work on the screen, no matter how many times I set up the locomotive, start it, restart it, read every single forum post, video on starting, and AI response on how to do it or troubleshoot it, IT SIMPLY DOESN'T WORK.

This stuff should just work. There's no excuse for it, and if there's something I'm not doing correctly, the tutorial should have told me. But the tutorial is so basic it doesn't teach you hardly anything except the barebones basics.

And frankly, I shouldn't have to dig through the internet reading 10 paragraph long Reddit posts to perform simple operations in your game. I'm sick of developers always expecting the internet to finish developing the game for them. It should just work. Stop being lazy,

But I guess I'm the lazy one because I want to PLAY a game instead of spending hours doing internet research to play a game. Internet research for a game is for mastering it, learning niche skillsets etc, not for getting the game to function on a basic level.

TL;DR
Recommended if you are new to train simulation.
It works well as a first contact with train driving, and helps you discover what you enjoy (kind of train/operations/line) before deciding whether it is enough for you or whether you want to move on to a simulator better suited to your expectations.

Train Sim World 6 is, unfortunately, a textbook case of wasted potential.

Built on a modern engine with full 3D environments and a huge DLC catalog, this should be the dream train simulator. Instead, quality is wildly inconsistent. Many DLCs look and feel like content from 15 years ago, often poorly updated, sometimes outright broken. Others are merely average. Considering the prices, even during sales, this is hard to justify.

This is frustrating because the core concept is excellent. You can walk around your train, interact with controls and the environment, visit stations, or ride as a passenger. When everything works, it can be immersive.

Unfortunately, bugs constantly get in the way. Tutorials are plentiful but frequently break if you make a mistake, which defeats their purpose.

Many routes are visually outdated, buggy, or extremely linear, often limited to simple back-and-forth runs with no meaningful route choices, even in expensive DLCs.

Physics feel believable but clearly capped. The simulation stops at an average level and never reaches the depth of hardcore simulators like Run8.

Ironically, the older Train Simulator Classic often offers much higher-quality routes and locomotives thanks to third-party developers and the community, sometimes even given away for free.

One genuine positive: any DLC you buy carries forward to future TSW versions.

In the end, this is a decent entry-level train simulator dragged down by unexcusable bugs and overpriced, outdated content that often feels like a game from 2005.
