If it's like the previous titles, the special gear is only used for about 10 levels at most anyways so not much of a duration.
As mentioned, it's for appearance and some years down the line will be somewhat limited edition and people will notice you're wearing the preorder armor in co-op.
Ok good to know, I usually don't purchase any games away from steam but a $15 savings sounded worth the trouble. I am still waiting to see when they plan to send the key to redeem on here. So if they do provide an additional code for the pre-order stuff I am assuming I don't have to redeem before launch in order for steam to recognize it as a pre-order?
A preorder key can be redeemed at any point to claim the rewards, but I wouldn't normally expect to see the codes sent until 2 days early at most. Sometimes they don't come until just a few hours before release which screws with having access to pre-downloads. For those who bought Starfield through Newegg, they got their codes the day of the early access release, so no pre-download option before hand
Ok, so if I'm lucky ill get something today or tomorrow but if not it should still arrive before launch. Sounds good to me, I managed to avoid that new price that I am still not a fan of haha. Either way I appreciate all this info.
I pre-order a lot of games because I want the bonuses and know I will play the game on day 1. And so far, I have yet to have a game flat out not work or that I didn't reach an acceptable level of value for myself in the end, despite all the people who claim they can't launch X game or have supposed game breaking bugs they have that I never see.

I almost never preorder these days either.
I only make an exception IF a decent length demo is supplied, I enjoy the demo AND the game runs well. This game met all 3 criteria for me, so yes I preordered.
If a game lets me play through first chunk of content with no restrictions and I have a good time, there's no reason I shouldn't preorder as I know what I'm buying.
Only reason I preordered is because of slight discount from current retail and because I know DLC will be epic (Nioh DLC always is major bang for buck), and the fact I'm definitely not going to hold off years to play the sequel to my favorite game franchise in the hopes of a lower price later. Would never pre-order for the armor bonuses though, that ♥♥♥♥ practically never matters.
Although I suppose we should concede, some may change the appearance of their armor to look like the pre-order bonus equipment and avoid the weight issues, so there is some slight benefit if you like the look I guess.
Really!? dang haha I had done a search and the newegg was the best I had found on the spot. I will make sure to check that one as well whenever the next game I'm interested releases. (Resident Evil Requiem)
