Reinforcements in Acceptable Losses are not guaranteed, nor do they arrive on a fixed schedule. Support depends on your current strength, recent arrivals, and the weather.

When Are Reinforcements Considered?

Reinforcements are only on the table if your total number of soldiers falls below a certain level. Near capacity? HQ figures you can manage.

The system also checks the last few days. Fresh arrivals recently? Don't hold your breath for another batch right away.

How the Chance Changes

If reinforcements fail to arrive, the chance increases slightly the next day. Long dry spells become less likely over time, but bad weather can lower your odds regardless.

When reinforcements do arrive, expect waves of four to six.

Cohesion

New soldiers arrive with low Cohesion. They don't know your men. Throwing them straight into difficult missions before they settle in is a gamble.

Bottom Line

Reinforcements are uncertain, but not arbitrary. Losses matter. Weather matters. Time without support increases pressure, but the system slowly corrects itself.

You cannot demand men. You wait, you adapt, you hope.

Mission outcome super random

I played the Demo around 20ish times and I'm not getting any better or worse, besides learning from memory what the different mission outcomes can be. But the success probability of missions feels super random. No responsiveness to squad status, weather or difficulty level AT ALL. Feels like playing a dumb slot machine....

Weather in Acceptable Losses operates as a daily system that pressures multiple parts of the campaign at once.

There are five states, from worst to best:

Storm > Rain > Fog > Overcast > Clear

Your first day always begins under Clear skies. After that, conditions shift day to day. They may worsen, improve, or remain the same. Bad weather can last for several days, though long stretches are uncommon. Three to four consecutive days of rain or storms are possible, but become less likely beyond that.

System Effects

Mission DifficultyBad weather generally increases mission difficulty. Fog can work both ways. Some missions are easier under reduced visibility.

Trench ConditionRain and storms reduce trench condition each night. Flooding can occur during storms or after consecutive days of rain. Keep your trench in good shape, because when the weather turns, repairs won’t come easy.

ReinforcementsBad weather lowers the chance of reinforcements arriving. So when those extra men don't show up, look to the sky.

Enemy Systems
Weather also impacts the enemy. Their trenches flood. Their reinforcements get held up. Bad weather cuts both ways.

Weather isn’t just for show. It creates stretches of mounting pressure and operational relief. You can’t control it. You just deal with it.

A Little HQ Clarity

This minor update includes feedback from those within Discord. There has been a push for more clarity on HQ's intentions. It isn't a major update bringing lots of new features, but it should add to the story a little more while Acceptable Losses is still in demo and being developed. These features will of course be in the full game and more polish is to come!

HQ Mission Outcome - A mission card and outcome report received

Bugs

Resting Inactive Squads - An announcement appears showing when an inactive squad rested and also letting you know if HQ found out about this choice

First off, I would like to say I enjoy this game. This feels like a game I can pick up every now and then and play for maybe 30 minutes and have a good time. I will say it's not too complicated that you could maybe make a mobile version? But that's more for the future, but for now I'll say I have a few suggestions that may improve the game. Why 1918?

I just find it a curious choice to place the game so late in the war. To me it is very strange timeframe, I do understand that the game is more about relating to the people you are in charge of and not getting them killed, but maybe the pragmatist in me thinks that a war game generally should encourage you to positively influence the war. By placing it so late there is a sense of inevitability for the outcome, which might even been interesting if you played as the Germans trying to keep your men from dyin...

The game is very fun but some of the RNG is illogical. I gave an experienced, max morale, maxed cohesion squad with no injuries for the HQ Requests a Squad mission. They somehow? failed and gets removed from the game for no reason?!? Is there a you get punished for playing too well mechanic? It also is unclear how to raise their moral when it gets too low to use them in battle, is it sending to medical? Also having them be inactive or in medical doesnt rest them, being inactive at minimum should rest them....

Got annoying as you have dudes that look like they're not contributing to squad size but I don't know how to deal with it.
