In the very first dungeon there was an enemy that was too armoured for me to take out, the starter laser pistol did nothing to it. But there was a metal desk nearby, so I thought 'Hmmm.' I picked up the metal desk, dropped it on them, and sure enough after doing it twice, it did enough damage to take it out. That was a very good emergent gameplay moment. Nothing in the game told me I could drop objects on enemies, I just decided to try it out and was rewarded for it. I cackled like an insane person and felt like a genius. I wanted to experiment with telekinesis a lot more after this.

I was a bit disappointed when picking up a bear trap and dropping it in an enemy's way that it didn't trigger, but I tried doing that with a landmine and it did trigger. So, that was strange. I'd appreciate the small change that if the player picks up and moves the beartrap, the enemies can trigger them.

The sound design is very good. I picked up a rifle and was very pleased it felt so punchy.

But the UI is a bit barebones. Next to my XP there's another XP in parenthesis. Is that the XP I need to level up? Why is it *less* than the other XP number? Things like that. I also don't like how restricting the fog of war is. Multiple times I was firing into the darkness using hit numbers to guide my shots just because my little pony couldn't see that far down a hallway.

I was also excited to make a mage, but dissapointed to find out a mage in this game is just blue guns. There's no way to restore your mana besides potions or buying mana recovery from the doctor. And, with guns, you restore your ammunition by finding it in the field or buying it from the merchants. So, it just ends up playing the same way.

It would be nice if there was another way to recover mana consistently. Maybe taking damage focuses the mind, so it gives you a little recovery, or dealing damage, so you get a little back from kills? It could also very slowly regenerate over time. I see no reason why it doesn't, honestly, especially if you just idle in the base. Maybe I'll find some way in the future with a perk or some such, I'm only a few hours in.

But the gameplay loop is solid and addicting. I want my little horse to get better. I would happily pay for this if it was sold for anything above free.

Play it if you like guns or horses. Especially play it if you like both.
