Controller support?

Does this game not support controllers? I'm using an Xbox controller and I can't navigate the menu with it. It only works in the resource-mining mode, but when I switch to the machine-defense mode, the controller stops working again. Also, the on-screen prompts are always for keyboard controls, even though the original single player game "Ocean Keeper" does support controllers....
