PAX East, Feedback, and What's Next!

Hey Fishers!

Last week we were able to show off a build of our game at PAX East. This was an awesome experience that really showed us what people thought about our game. We appreciate all of the conversations we had during the con and if you are here, we hope you stay up to date with the project!

Overall, many people had positive things to say about the game. The feedback that we received was very helpful and we want to act on that. The areas that we saw people struggle the most involved the initial explanation of the fishing mechanic and misunderstanding how the fish behaved.

With this in mind we are working on :

Improved tutorialization of fishing

Better indication of fish behavior

More activities and places to explore

Reel Tiny Tutorial Improvements and Nextfest

Hey Everyone!

We are very excited to have the opportunity to be apart of Steam Nextfest! We hope that everyone enjoys the demo we have released and are actively looking for feedback. The game is still in development and we are working every day to improve the experience and make it the best it can be.

That's why we need YOU, the players to let us know what you like about the experience. If you are interested in helping us make the best game possible, please join our discord[discord.gg]!

Because of player feedback we have already made a couple additions to the Tutorial including:

Added How To Fish popups
New and improved tutorial UI
Added an interactable icon to Jimbo's house
Improved Fishing UI
Added a new fish: The Warpaint Shiner

Reel Tiny Tutorial Demo and Roadmap!

Hello Everyone!

We are beyond excited to finally release the Reel Tiny Tutorial Demo on Steam! We are a small studio and have taken it upon ourselves to try to accomplish what many consider impossible: Creating a fun game in 6 months.

Six months creates a lot of limitations but also enables quick feedback cycles, faster learnings and focuses us on what is most important, creating a fun game for our community (YOU)!

Reel Tiny Demo

Our demo is a brief glimpse of what is to come! We wanted to focus on the first time player experience and what better way to do that then to release the intro tutorial!

We want to hear what you think about the tutorial and what you wish to see in the final product. As a development team, we want to foster a community that can help us make the game as good as it can possibly be!

Please share you feedback directly with us on our discord[discord.gg] (seriously, the entire team is on the discord and it helps relieve the stress of this tight timeline when we get to chat with you all).

Reel Tiny Roadmap

As we continue development we wanted to give you all a sneak peak into what's coming next!

The full game will include:

Critters Crick (This is just Jimbo's Ol' Fishin' Hole)
3 Unlockable Fishing Areas with unique environments, mechanics, and fish
A Catch + Release Mechanic that impacts the local environment in a variety of ways. RNG might not be so R if you master the environmental balance.
An Upgradable Fishing License allowing you to use new rods and lures to catch elusive fish
A trade system to sell the fish you have for better gear and upgrade
Fishing can be quiet sometimes, WCYP Cryptid Radio (voiced by special voice actors we can't wait to announce) can keep you company as you fish the waters around Critters Creek

Honestly i see the potential. Its only feels like a proof of concept right now, but I'll keep watch and see where it goes

My thoughts on the demo

First off, I REALLY like the character you play as. Also, Jimbo is oddly charming, even if he is a bit of a jerk :P However, I had two things that I did not like during the demo that I want to address: 1. Not being able to adjust your lure after cast (reeling in before a fish bites). 2. This could just be the demo playing weird, but the fish were super laggy and jittery for me, which made it a bit difficult to catch. Adjusting your lure after cast to better position it would be awesome, and makes sense s...

I like the sound of this one

I'm a little worried its going to be a stealthed horror title though. Although Dagon over here just informed me that Lovecraftian fish are harmless and a sign of good fortune.
