I don't like writing bad reviews on anything. I always feel a little bit bad when I write them, even if the game is awful, but this game is different.

I found Sweet Love by chance when my adblocker decided not to block ads like it was supposed too. It looked pretty interesting so I decided to give it a try. I love visual novels and it's been years since I've played a good one, so I figured one about dating ponies would be right up my alley, I love ponies, so yeah I thought I'd have a blast.

However when I was looking at the description, I noticed something. At the very bottom of the page there was a disclaimer saying that artifical intelligence had been used to create the backgrounds for the game. For some reason, I decided to ignore that and bought the game anyways. I wish I didn't.

Backgrounds are a huge thing in visual novels, they add to the story and immerse the player in the setting, and well, it's kind of hard to get immersed with how low-quality the backgrounds look. Sometimes it's not so obvious they're AI generated, but other times, it's so obvious that once you see it, you can't unsee it.

As someone who commissions lots of art, I know that art costs money. But the thing is; you can find HUNDREDS of free resources for your visual novels with one simple google search. Typing in 'Free backgrounds for visual novels' will get you tons of results that you can use. For free. There's this one visual novel I have yet to finish that uses royalty-free backgrounds from a very talented artist, and despite that it's still an incredible game. AI may seem like a cool and convenient tool to save money, but well, it's not. It will just turn people off of your game.

Aside from that, the game is rather buggy, sometimes your character flies off screen when you hide the HUD, and the writing isn't great. It's really disappointing, I wanted to like this game, especially since the characters are all really cute, and I want to get to know them better and get to the end of this, but the bad far outweighs the good.

To the developers: I believe you have a real game here. I like what I see, but the use of AI and the poor writing is slowing it down. I think this game could be phenomenal, but at this state I just can't support it.
