My game icons won't change and I went and hit change
So, i went to properties like I was told to do, I changed it and it approved but all my games are the same icon when I download them. IDK what happened.. I'm thinking of maybe refreshing my PC to factory default? I'm running Windows 10.

Please provide more details because I'm at a complete loss as far as understanding anything you want to accomplish here.

I am saying. When I download a game from steam, like when I download TWO STEAM GAMES, the games are both the same icons of the two games as i downloadeed and i cannot change them to one of each. like I have the game called Man Eater the shark game and then I have Assassins Creed Odessy i cannot change it to the different icons because its the same one. I would have to show a screenshot of what i am talking about. maybe that would help you understand =)
Well I'm still at a loss. My best guess (and that's a very long shot) is that you're talking about the shortcuts which install on your desktop when you download a game?

yes that is what i am talking about. i have a screen shot of it but i can't figure out how to upload it from my desktop
Well that's not a Steam problem. It would most probably originate from some kind of interference from your OS.

You can however very easily change any shortcut icon manually doing what you were already saying. The game icon itself is usually located on the .exe (executable) file of the game itself. You can find the actual location of those files if you right click on your game in the Steam library and go to files. There is a button there to open the file explorer directly in that directory.

Tell me if you can manage it. Cheers.

you can use sites like imgur to post screenshots if need be.

also, you can as well clear your OS icon cache, restart your pc and said icons should "refresh".

assuming you are running win 10/11?

open a "folder" or "my computer", etc.. (anything really), click "view" up top of the window, scroll down, click "show", check "hidden items"

then to delete the iconcache.db file, go to C:/users/username/appdata/local/ICONCACHE.DB

restart your pc and it should refresh your icons.

the above works on all icons, corrupted, or not showing, or simply wrong icons (if it doesnt then something is wrong).

also to note, im pretty sure "disk cleanup" run as admin, has a box to check called "thumbnails", that i believe (correct me if im wrong?), clears your icon cache as well.

let us know if it worked.

good luck and have a nice day
