How often should I get a card or booster pack drop?
I'm at 80% increase in drop rate. I play games every day. I haven't had a drop in a long time. Just wondering. . Any help appreciated. :steamhappy:

Steam levels don't give you a flat % drop rate, they just boost your base drop rate by 20% per 10 levels.

Every time a person crafts a badge for a game it creates a booster that gets raffled between all the people eligible to receive a booster. You essentially start with 5 tickets and for every 10 steam levels you get 1 more ticket.

The 20% increase in drop rate is to your initial chance, not general.
Meaning if your standard chance to get a booster drop ist about 0.5% then with the 80% bonus its now 0.85% or so.

Also the more eligiable games you have (games where you got all the card drops already) the better.

With nearly 3000 eligiable games and level 321 i get about 1 booster pack every 2-3 weeks.
It was a lot more in the past, usually one booster every 2-3 days but it has gone down a LOT over the last few years. Seen a few discussions WHY but who knows what Steam is tinkering in the background.

Thanks.
how are you at "80% drop rate" and where would one see that?

edit: looked and found, no way to see a percentage for a persons drop rate.

im higher level and i barely get card drops, they take a ridiculously long time to even drop.

pretty sure i have only had like maybe 10 or so (likely less, as its been quite a long time), since being on steam and i play games constantly, at other points in time, it was almost 24/7.

have a nice day

No, it's at an 80% increase, that's something entirely different.

Picture a drop rate that is 0,000001% now do an 80% increase, that's what it means.

I know, I had edited it to say increase but it didn't work. OH it does say that. We were writing at the same time. But still its 80 percent. I just thought it would be more often that is all.

Likely because you assume the drop rate starts higher than it actually does.

As said, an 80% increase to a very small drop chance still will result in a very small drop chance.

Yes. I see. You should be getting over 100% increase in your drop rate. I wonder if the number still goes up after 100%? I see it said etc. so i guess it keeps going up. Hope you have a great day and thank you for your answers.:steamhappy:

It does, actually. But since the original drop chance is so incredibly low, it takes quite some levels to get to a drop level that actually gains something. :D

You too, btw. :)
