steam restricted to gift games with walletfunds

Even if you manage to get in touch with support they'll merely tell you that, yes, your account is restricted from gifting using wallet funds, no they are not going to lift the restriction and to use external payment methods to give gifts while using wallet funds to buy things for your own account.

Support will sometimes lift the restriction. But only once for any given account, and if you immediately use it to gift to someone else, the lock is reapplied right then.

this is acc absurd i literally bought 40 euro of steam giftcards and i cant even use them i only could have gifted my friend 1 game and then the gifting feature stopped working completely i cant even contact support because it just send me back to the same page for no reason idk what to do at this point :facepunch:

The system suspects commercial usage of wallet funds which is forbidden by the Steam Subscriber Agreement.

Excessive usage of wallet credit with schemes to attempt to convert it back to real money, i.e. offering purchase services for a reduced price ("You give real $$$ I buy game X with wallet $$$ for you"), can be seen as money laundering attempts.

Contact support if you can't use a different payment method. They may lift the restriction, but if they refuse to lift the restriction, their say is final.

If they refuse to lift the restriction, you have to use an external payment method (i.e. credit card) to gift to a friend, but can still use your wallet balance for your own purposes.

thats actually stupid , no one paid me i just used my own money to buy them for my friends , at least if they could have given me a chance to explain would have been useful but i cant even contact support so.
