I really do have two Steam accounts with the same email and name
Following an awful crash that saw my Steam app shortcut disappear and no Steam games working I reinstalled Steam to find out that my large library of games had been reduced to a handful. However, some of my other games was listed in my library that I could purchase from my account that had the picture of me that my current one didn't. I know that Steam states that you cannot have two accounts with the same name and email but I have! I can no longer access my older account with all of the games I have purchased (I still have email purchase history and the games listed within my SteamLibrary folder), Any ideas of how to bring these accounts together or another solution so that I can access all my purchased games?

Are you maybe confusing the account login with profile name?

Anyone can use the same profile name.

And you could always use the same email on different accounts.

yeah you can have more than one account assigned to the same email. Accounts cant not be merged.

My guess is that at some point you accidentally created another account instead of logging in with your main account. Can be easy to do, as many people confuse their ''account name'' (used to login) with their ''profile name'' and end up creating a new account.

To figure out the ''account name'' of each of your accounts, check your email history for purchases you have made. It will state the account name for those games brought in those emails.

Once you figure out the ''account name'' of your main account, if you still cannot log in to it follow this guide to recover it:

Steam accounts can not be merged together. Per the Steam Subscriber Agreement, Steam game subscriptions / CD keys are nontransferable and cannot be reset / moved between Steam accounts.

Recover your other account.

Check out the guide that was shared above.
The recovery doesn't work I've tried several times.
I have taken a screengrab that shows the two accounts with the same name but I cannot paste here. Interestingly Steam says that I am loggiing in from a new device, which I am not when I log back in.

Do not search via profile name or email.

Type the account name of your other account in the search bar. Check your emails if you can't remember your account name.

What happens if you search for your account name?

Both of your accounts have the same profile name (david.steare). They can not have the same account name.

Profile name =/= account name

Check that email purchase history for your account name.

This is getting so frustrating - every time I try recovery by signing out, I have to go through the Steam Guard because "It looks like you are trying to log in from a new device" which I am not.
My account name on both accounts is the same, I don't know any other way of searching for my account name. Also, I haven't purchased any games via my 'new' account.

You said you have an email purchase history for your main account where you purchased all of your games. Log into your email account and look for your account name.

Do you have any proof of ownership?
Hi Lillm, yes I have done that and the name on my Steam purchases is the same as my current name.

Don't worry about the bot account that is spamming scam links in your thread. I already reported it. Don't click on that link!

Please answer these two questions:

What happens if you search for that account name if you use the guide that was linked earlier?

Do you have proof of ownership?

Hi Lillm, that guide didn't work as it instructed me to sign out and then I had to sign back in using the account name that you advised me to search for!
Also, my 'old' account has an artwork version of myself. I have the original photo of myself. - is that proof enough? I also have an email purchase history dating back to March 2017.

That picture does not count as proof of ownership.

Check out at the bottom of my guide what counts as proof of ownership.

Without proof of ownership, you will not be able to recover your account anyway.

The guide does not tell you to sign back in, by the way.
