Option to switch off Game News
Please have an option to switch off game news.
I don't give a damn about 'community events', sweatshop merchandise or stupid stuff; I just want to play games. Leave it on as default for all I care, just give us the freedom to switch it off.

This stuff even shows up in Family View, which might not be a good idea if children are using it.

Go into the settings for the What's New shelf and show less of that particular type of update and only show updates for the games themselves.

Thanks for the tip. I've been doing that for now but it's really annoying having to manually do that for every game.

If you don't mind modding your Steam client, at your own risk:
https://steambrew.app/plugin?id=266c815057f2

Allows you to disable the What's New shelf.

It requires installation of the Millennium Steam client extension: https://steambrew.app/

Oh neat. I'll look into that. Thanks mate
never liked the "whats new shelf", its basically an advertising feature.

i mean, i dont mind the update stuff, but the constant ads/news about other nonsense is quite annoying to say the least.

hide all the stuff, a week later you are spammed by irrelevant "news".

heck, pubg recently had my whole "shelf" filled with events/etc..., i hide it and i get more..., to the point i made a useless thread in their forums, asking them to stop spamming me with that stuff.... :cqlol:

wish they never added that feature.

have a nice day

Exactly my thoughts. Hopefully if Steam hears enough users complaining about it, they'll add an option to hide it.

Have a good day to you too :praisesun:
