every christmas have 1 free steam game
it would be nice to have it cos its christmas :D and some people just can't get what they want that is gettable (get $99 game XD)

Besides, many games go pretty damn cheap over the Christmas period anyway.

And as said before, on christmas many games go highly discounted.
There will always be a chance of getting a game at a dirt cheap price on Steam

If a dev wants to give away a game they are free to do so.

There's no "bill" if they give one of their own games, though. They don't need to pay themselves.

At least Half-Life was given this year, so that's something.

There are other various platforms who give out steam keys for free, for example:

FREE 4 LIMITED TIME
@ Fanatical: https://www.fanatical.com/game/desolate

Such events arent even rare, there are free steam keys everywhere on everyday to find ..

It sounds like a good idea, Epic give away several AAA games a year so there is no reason steam (who is a much more profitable company) couldn’t do the same.
