This is a screenshot from speedtest done 2 minutes ago so for now, my speed is fine, but I am sure it will drop again to 100/100 Mbps sooner or later lol.
So I don't think it's a router problem either because it was happening on 2 different routers.
You said the windows recognizes the speed at 100mbps on the adapter status, do you know anyone with a cable tester?
any network gear labeled 'fast' is 100mb/s not gigabit
check the nic connection speed, if its not gigabit or faster thats the problem
performance -> ethernet -> look for link speed
This is alright, but it already happened twice, that the speed dropped to just 100 Mbps for no reason and I had to unplug the ethernet cable for a minute and plug it back in in order to get the normal speed again.
It might actually be a cable problem like the person above already mentioned, but I am still hoping that it might be just something in my PC that is incorrectly set up, so I am still looking for some more opinions.

I would say so. I had a PC that suffered from the same problem and it turned out to be the cable. Buying a new cable solved the problem.
