Controller has cardinal direction snapping?
I have an 8bitdo SN30pro+ and it has this weird thing where when rotating my left joystick around it tends to "stick" to cardinal directions. almost like its magentized to them.

Ive tried everything to get rid of this and have no idea why its a thing, it just screws up aiming, and precise inputs and makes movement look less smooth.

I have tried the ultimate tool as well and there is no way to disable or recalibrate this specific issue.

does anyone know a way to fix this or remedy it?

test with joy.cpl or steam controller test

look closer at the controller, it may be a clone or fake
misprints or non english symbols are a dead giveaway
First update the device firmware; see if this fixes your issues.

I already have, its sorta like the analog stick gets magnetized towards north west south and east. like even tho im pulling away they tend to snap back to those cardinal directions a bit rubberband wise. and fight against smooth movement.

EDIT: I actually have another one of the same type but its different color scheme. and it does the same thing. and they are ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥.

Have you tried adding some deadzone in their app? If there is none then even a slight spring imbalance can create a stick drift like effect.

yeah I have tried adding some deadzone on both ends and it still does it regardless of that. even if I lightly tilt the analog stick, it doesnt have to be a full push.

and to clarify the analog stick itself moves just fine, its purely input wise it tends to snap. basically im saying even though im not holding up (perhaps upright or up left a bit) it wants to snap to straight up instead for some reason.

It sounds like standard stick drift then that many controllers develop over time.
In some cases it can be fixed but requires full disassembly what can be difficult or impossible in some cases. I’ve used some YT guides to fix stick drifts on my Sony controllers.
