Sleep Paralysis
I occasionally get sleep paralysis and wonder why I see black figures and hear loud whispering? Why can't it be a good experience rather than a bad one? Also if you experienced sleep paralysis, don't be afraid to share your experience :hikari:.

I think I only had it once, that I can remember.

But I’m not sure if I was actually experiencing sleep paralysis, or if I was just paralyzed with fear from a night terror.

I used to sleep with the blanket over my head so I never saw anything weird.
I've had an episode or two of sleep paralysis. I don't recall any whispering or anything of the like, though, but I have had the feeling like a massive weight was over me and I couldn't move for at least a minute.

Some info about it if you care to read it:

Like I can control it by thinking that I can move my arms and legs and I only get it when I take a nap for an hour, wake up and then take another one right after.

This happened to me last night. I have never in my life felt terrified like this. Nothing has even come close. I explained to my wife what happened. I saw a half man/dog/demon thing run up to me out of the shadows and grab my leg. It instantly paralyzed me. Couldn't move or talk. It stared at me, so close I could not make out its face too well. Just it's round, big eyes. It slowly backed away and crawled off on all fours and started down the hall towards my kids. I tried sooo hard to yell their names but I couldn't. I had tears coming from my face. I kept trying to talk, say anything and only low groans came from me. That's when I started to panic and thought my family was going to be killed. For about 3-4 minutes I was fully awake, not sure what was fully happening and could NOT move. I finally let out a deep, loud yell that woke my wife up. At that moment I was up on my feet and out of breath. What makes this so weird, is we looked up what people see when this happens. It is shocking at what people have drawn and described. It is almost identical to what I saw. I'm totally weirded out about this. Has anyone else seen the demon/dog thing? What are the odds I would see the same ♥♥♥♥!ng thing??? What does this all mean?

Wait, you saw it coming to you and THEN it paralyzed you? you were not already asleep? and then it moved away while you WATCHED it? forgive me if I remain skeptical as someone who also experienced sleep paralysis once. Cool story though.

I have had this. When I was in my 30's I think. But never since then. I never knew it was common or had a name until maybe 10 years ago. I never saw shadows. I just knew that I HAD to wake up but could not. And I thought my whole body was trembling/shaking/vibrating from the strain of trying to wake up. I felt like I needed to move some part of my body. Any part, but could not. Very nasty experience.

Yes, It came at me and grabbed me. That's when I felt paralyzed. Not sure if I was asleep or awake. The strange thing is I was watching TNG in my front room when it happened. That's where it took place as well. Weird how a dream matches what I last remember doing.

I experienced it once, but I was in the middle of a really cool thought so my instinctive reaction was not, "Oh no!" but more "♥♥♥♥ YOUUUUUUUUUUUUUU" and I laid there for about 10 seconds completely inert before my sheer anger at it happening snapped me out of it

But I guess good experiences are rare because your body is going to be aware it's paralyzed, and so will your brain, producing the effect of "AAAAAAAA" and also "Gotta imagine reasons why I'm paralyzed, such as being stricken with fear at spooky things"

But as my exciting experience illustrates, if you're too aware you just get really annoyed and wake up
Does anyone else hear the high-pitched screaming when they get sleep paralysis?

Because that used to be the absolute worst. your brain trying to process sounds about not knowing what's going on so it just goes eeeeeeeeeeeee

Man, that sounds awful. But no, all I felt was a very evil shadow monster by my bed that I could just barely make out
No I don't, in fact I enjoy sleep. It is the only time I can shut out anything and everything from this chaotic world we live in. Might have something to do with how my brain and nervous system is wired differently.
