Why couldn't plesiosaur survive the asteroid impact?
https://youtu.be/AoQXSPJ3R_s

Other reptiles survived. Crocodiles and Alligators survived. The reason given for crocodiles is because they are amphibious can survive underwater.

Okay so why does that work for crocodiles but not for plesiosaurs who can survive in the ocean?

Lock Ness connects to the ocean, so it's entirely within the realm of possibility that a plesiosaur could have made its way there in the past. Fossils show that plesiosaurs existed in both saltwater and freshwater, so just like salmon they could travel up rivers and spread everywhere there is a connection to the ocean.

We even have photographs of plesiosaurs. But experts would have us believe they are fakes, and the people who see plesiosaurs are clearly insane.

Why? Is it so unbelievable that this species could have survived the asteroid impact when crocodiles did exactly the same thing?

Makes me think of SCP-2256

Why?...
Because facts matter.
Because it was out competed by sharks and starved

Because Crocodiles would be hard pressed to survive there. In spite of them being much smaller, being efficient with calories, and capable of brumation. They'd still likely succumb to starvation. Lock Ness cannot support a large predator of any sort.

The Loch Ness monster is something made up for tourists.

But plesiosaur could survive in both saltwater and freshwater. Why couldn't plesiosaurs on the other side of the planet, living in the ocean, survive the asteroid impact and global temperature drop, and then emerge from hiding millions of years later and travel to loch ness to get photographed by scared tourists?

They're waaay smaller than a plesiosaur.

you see its size ???

big animal are toasted by the impact

also small crocodile exist, so small crocodile may survive just eat insect, small animal and fish until situation go better

seem it also true with small shark, they just eat small fish, sea food and wathever exist at bottom of ocean until thing go better
I think it starved like others noted

Body size is limited by food availability. The body of water that's in question. Lacks the amount of fish that's required. To sustain a population of large animals. It doesn't have enough to sustain a lone individual. You're asking why a hippo can't survive in the Sahara.

A Crocodile couldn't last in that lake, and they go months without eating, and marine reptiles were not sedentary. They were long distance swimmers. When there isn't enough food for the couch potato. What makes you think there's enough for the Olympic swimmer.

I don't think the ocean ever lacked fish.

Even after the asteroid impact.

The impact imparted a negligible amount of energy on the other side of the planet. I created tsunamis, sure. But fish can survive tsunamis.

Even during the ice age, if the entire ocean froze over, there would still be substantial populations of fish under the ice.

Enough for a predator to survive. Could predators have dwindled in number? Sure. But to say that all plesiosaurs went extinct and dismiss photographic evidence and sightings of plesiosaurs as insane is underestimating the sheer size of the ocean, I think.

I'm just arguing there can't be one in that lake, because there isn't enough food there for one. Drunken Scots are seeing otters, hoaxers are having a laugh, and shop owners sell trinkets. They've fully surveyed that lake from top to bottom. There are no sea monsters in that lake.
