The AI overlords don't even ban me anymore...My ban counter in my name is starting to feel stale and pointless. It's like they don't even care about me like they used to...

I guess now I know how it feels to be one of those bullied kids in school, who once the bullies leave alone starts to miss the attention. They just got bored of me I guess. Feels bad.

I have 1 game I play on Steam but I disable my wifi and play it offline so they don't get the stats of an online user.

Valve doesn't really read these.

I'm talkin about the payed mods... the one's who can't even be bothered to articulate a legitimate reason for a ban anymore and just be like "it appears this account was banned from _____, we looked into it and determined that this ban was applied correctly."

I haven't heard any of them complain about it. I believe those developers removed those games themselves, and out of their own free will. Because if they were forced to do this, and didn't wanted to, they would be complaining about it. Wouldn't they?

They care enough to pay the moderation staff, even though that means they're operating at a loss.

They care enough to pay the moderation staff, even though that means they're operating at a loss.

Must remember that the forums are not the only thing on Steam that need to be moderated. There is also every other piece of user-generated content - guides, avatars, groups, profiles, etc.

Setting aside the forums it's in any company's interest to have moderation when users can upload things. Don't really want people uploading illegal content onto your website unless you want to risk getting into trouble and scaring other customers away.

I am sure they also have the budget to spare for the moderation, but they also probably pay the bare minimum for it.

Are they? I don't believe the broader population really cares what goes on in the Steam forums. Neither does Valve very much for that matter.

they don't actually, they just leave token threads around so the casual observer thinks it's a free-for-all while removing all the content they want to actually oppress...

like they say, you can fool most of the people some of the time or you can fool some of the people most of the time... but you can't fool all of the people all of the time.
