Unable to decompile Special Infected
Hi, I have been unable to decompile the special infected mdl files from left 4 dead 2 and am unsure as to why. When I click the "decompile" button it flashes but does nothing. I have tried in both crowbar model .19 and .56. What should I do. (also sorry if I worded any of this weird or wrong, I am very new to all of this and am trying to get the 3d models of the l4d2 special infected)

Can you show us a screenshot of of what Crowbar looks like when you're trying to decompile?

Well, your Crowbar looks fine to me. Did you just extract the .mdl file, and nothing else? Like, do you have a .vvd, .phy, .vtx, or dx90/80 files where you have the .mdl file?

Oh, and in the future, you can post images on Imgur. It's really easy.

Awesome, I will have to check out imgur. But yeah, I have the following files "anim_jockey (animated cursor)" "anim_jockey (mdl file)" "jockey.dx90 (Microsoft Visio Document)" "jockey (mdl file)" "jockey (3ds max physique file)" and "jockey (vvd file)"

I took all of the files labeled "jockey" from the models file.

And you extracted them from Left 4 Dead 2? Hmm...I'll see if I'm able to extract them.

Edit: I was able to decompile the Jockey just fine. Make sure that the .mdl, dx90.vtx, .phy, and .vvd are all in the same place when you're trying to decompile.

Awesome thank you. maybe I extracted them wron or something. I went to left 4 dead, properties, local files, browse local files, left 4 dead 2, pak01_dir.vpk, models, then infected and took the files for jockey, charger, and smoker (or at least tried to).

Try creating a folder somewhere (on desktop, for example), and name it "jockey", or something. Then, go to where you went (the pak01.dir), and under models/infected extract the jockey.mdl, jockey.dx90.vtx, jockey.phy, and jockey.vvd to the folder. Then go to the folder, and decompile the .mdl file. It should work.

Kay I will try :)

It is still not working.. What should I try now?

I don't know if this means anything, but when I have the file try to be decompiled to "output to work folder" then it seems to work but also has this 3/4 of the way to the bottom "WARNING: Unable to create "C:\Users\james\Documents\jockey_anims" where bone animation SMD files would be written."

and then it does not create any new folders or anything with the decompiled files.

Try to run Crowbar as administrator.

Try this, or also extracting the Jockey animation files from the models/infected, and put them with the rest of the files.
