If the default settings do not work for you, then go into Compile tab and click the Set Up Games button. Select the game and change the paths as appropriate, or even add a new game with new paths. No need to use a different program just to compile.

Crowbar has the default paths that I could find on my system for Source Filmmaker.

My Garry's Mod folders did not have the needed files, so I chose paths corresponding to Half-Life 2. Please correct me and I will include better defaults in the next release. Perhaps the new Source SDK 2013 SP or MP options would be better choices for compiling to Garry's Mod.

I don't understand the desire for shorter QC file commands (such as $phys instead of $collisionmodel). Perhaps, you could explain your reasoning or provide examples of how that feature would be used.

Setting up some QC commands for compiling (such as the paths you mentioned) is already on my ToDo list. Actually, having an interface for creating and writing an entire QC file is on the ToDo.

The other tools are simply incorrect. To work around the problem with other tools, copy the skeleton section from the reference smd file into the skeleton section of the vta file.

NOTE: The Blender Source Tools (plugin) correctly handles the vta syntax.

I am still researching how to decompile those flexes you pointed out in TF2 models. You can comment out those odd flex lines so the model compiles, but the model might be missing some face animations.

I tested the early versions of Crowbar using mainly the L4D2 survivor models. It seems that now I need to focus more on testing TF2 models from TF2 and from Source Filmmaker.

I am unsure what this means. Please explain with more details.

For example, does "Goldsrc detection" mean Crowbar should decompile models made for Goldsource engine (such as Half-Life)?

Animation smd files are known to be not fully correct, and I have yet to discover how certain values need to be converted. I will continue to try to fix this.

Corrected the reported problem with bad reference SMD files. There are still some issues with bad flex lines in the qc files and some player SMD files are not decompiled. Check out version 0.12 just released.

I'll keep trying to work out the issues.

Please post any errors or suggestions for Crowbar in this topic.

A good bug report has these items:

• description of the steps you took that showed the error
  
• description of what you expected the tool to do
  
• description of what the tool actually did that was in error
  
• Operating Sytem (for example: XP, Vista, Win7, Win8)
  
• when possible, a screenshot of the error
  
• when possible, upload and link to a zip file with your model files and decompiled files that I can use to debug the error
