Not sure how Blender Source Tools or StudioMDL handles SHORT (8.3) path and File names, but it might be an option to you with the stupid way ppl are now creating filenames and pathways.

The other thing as well is just what program are you using to work with the SMDs after decompile? Are you just decompiling and recompiling for it to be used in another game engine or are you brining it into a 3d editor and working with it, re exporting and then recompiling?

Not all verts or there positions come out of a model exactly. And bringing a model into a 3d editor, wll you end up with rounding errors from the decompile then rounding errors from the import and if the program auto-smooths, even more verts get shuffled around. We see this when we overlay a VTA file on top of model in Blender. Theres a lot of orphaned dots. You never get an exact duplicate of the actual game model.

Think of the process as a photocopy machine, you photocopy an original, there is going to be some degradation of the quality, if you photocopy a photocopy of an orginal, there's going to be more. Keep photocoping photocopies of photocopies, you end up with characters faded to the point of being no visible or blobbing out.

Looks like you forgot to turn on the Search box outline (beside the magnifying glass (search) button) It is only visible if the mouse is hovering over it.

[REQ] Change to multi-list box in Set Up Games window
The Library functions are great but would like to see it taken one step further. Currently (as far as I can see) you can use the library functions for the currently open setup screen or All games in Crowbar.

This is fine for one of my computers where I have everything except SFM installed to the D: drive library. I can complete Crowbar setup in 2 operations, by doing a Change all to <library2> then selecting the SFM setup screen and <library1> and changing the current open to <library1>.

However, on my larger computer I have valve games split up over 3 or 4 drives.

The feature request would be to change the list box on the Setup screen to a mulit-select list box so I can select all the games in one library and change them as required, then move on and select all the games in the next library and set them, etc, instead of doing them one setup screen at a time.

Maybe something like this??

[FIXED][BUG] Copy-paste of a library path raises exception

Tried to Copy and Paste a library path from the library path of <library1> to <library2> and got this (has happened on both a 32 and a 64bit machine)

Edit: Samething happens if I select the text and Right click the mouse and use the Copy menu option or if I select the text and use Ctl+C shortcut keys.
