the kind of music i actually listen to can vary a lot, i can go from dance pop to hardcore experimental hip hop in seconds but i do try to listen to a lot of albums from different genres to expand my music taste

Some of my favorite albums are very simple (Die Lit as an example) and the main focus is meant to be the music and instrumentals. Well, not just specifically mumble rap, (mumble rap being some dude saying random shit and you can barely understand him because he is mumbling) but honestly most rap in general. Most rap I've heard is just some annoying sounds on loop with a guy talking over them, and I find that annoying. I don't hate rap though, I used to listen to Eminem and Yelawolf like all the time. But idk, it's kinda hard to explain.

As long as you don't go gamer joker mode and speak the word of video game OSTs being superior to rap or other genres of music (or dare I say it: getting "persona vibes" from jazz), you're good.

While I am a big fan of video game OSTs (and jazz gives me "Halo 3: ODST vibes", not "persona vibes") it's not any more 'real music' than other types of music. Music is music. It's all real.
