What is Otome you ask?

An Otome game (literally "maiden game") is a story-based video game. Generally one of the goals, besides the main plot goal, is to develop a romantic relationship between the female player character and one of several male or female characters. This genre is most established in Japan and is mostly made up of visual novels and simulation games; particulary dating sims and life simulation games.

The Kickstarter that we are watching this week, is Siren's Call: Second Wind - Love Is In The Air by ThePenSword.

Inspired by games like Catherine and early 2000s doujin works, Siren’s Call: Second Wind is a thought-provoking, atmospheric visual novel where the line between dream and reality has shattered completely.

The sun shinning over the town of Siren's Call, Florida has disappeared. And in its place? A hungry, inexplicable black hole. Every one of us should be dead, but we're not. Maybe that's why all our friends still came to the wedding.

Well, almost all of them. My best friend, Ruth, is still nowhere to be seen.

Something about that feels cruel. Really cruel. Should I follow that cruel feeling or just enjoy this second wind of ours? One thing is for sure, love is in the air. I only hope that air is still safe for us to breathe.

The ending of Siren's Call: Second Wind is completely dependent on your choices as a player. Whether or not you decide to follow this romantic mood or untie the mystery of the town is entirely up to you. Just, whatever you do, don't get distracted. Couples that split their attention between two loves seldom get the happy ending they want.

I know some of your admins write for IndieGems too.
They're are now not writing any new reviews for Nukearts.

Just trying to do my best by letting more people know ^^ thanks.

Hello!
I'm not sure if y'all are aware but Nukeart studios have copyrighted the words "HIDDEN CATS" and have subsequently been targeting developers on steam with infringement notices. They've retroactively claimed ownership back to 2022. A lot of other hidden cat developers have had to rebrand overnight or be delisted on steam. Nukearts DID NOT invent this niche genre. They are trademark trolling and bullying.

Consider delisting your curated reviews if possible for their games.
I'm just spreading the word, it helps if more people know and more people to talk about it.

Not to mention coming up in April 2026, the Hidden Object Festival sale begins on steam and new games set to release are affected by this.
