Rules for the PeTI Portal2 competition
What is this?
Every month, a competition starts on the first of that month. At the beginning of the competition, the theme/rules will be given for that particular contest. If you want to participate, create a puzzle for Portal2 that follows the rules and once done, publish your map to the Steam Workshop. You'll get an entire month to submit your entry. The next twenty days, people can vote for the entries until its deadline has been met.

What can I win?
Aside from the fame and respect, you may give a suggestion for what the next challenge will be. If its reasonable to all members, and you have submitted your idea within the given time, your idea will be the rules for next monthly competition.

What should I know for submitting an entry for the competition?
Maps for the this competition has to be single player maps only.
Create a new map from scratch following this competitions given concept. One entry per competition, unless the rules of that compo states otherwise. Do not make your map be dependent on having additional programs or addons installed (for example: when using beemod with custom items, some items such as the sendicator do not pack and only work if others have beemod installed).
Just make sure it is accessible on the steam workshop so people can subscribe to it.
Second, make sure you submit your entry within the given deadline. The competition starts as soon as the topic has been made with the rules for that competition.

The deadline of the competition is the last day on 23:59 GMT+0. If you are unsure what time that is for you, feel free to contact me and check what timezone you have. NOTE: your GMT timezone changes when daylightsavings are in effect.

When the first deadline has been reached and you can no longer post your maps, you are also not allowed to edit your maps anymore. So make sure its bug free at that stage.

What should I know for voting on the maps?
Play all the maps, and then post the best 3 maps (or their makers) in a list from best to worse. You cannot vote for your own map, but if there are only 3 or less maps, place yours at the bottom of your list. Post your votes in the same discussion as the map submissions.

If you have trouble completing a map, please ask for hints or the solution before considering this map as bad.

Voting starts as soon as the deadline for the competition is over, and ends when its deadline is met. Votes will be calculated and a winner will be announced. The winner can then make a suggestion for the next rounds rules.

How does voting work behind the scene?
When you vote for a map, you name 3 maps in order from best to worse. The first map you name gets 3 points, the 2nd map gets 2 points and the 3rd map gets 1 point. All points are counted to give a total per map. The map with the highest points win.

If 2 or more maps tie for a place, then the map who has the most 3 points win it from the others. If they tie there too, then the map with the most 2 points win. Would they tie there as well, which is very unlikely but possible, they tie for that place.

2 or more maps tie for the first place, who won?
Congrats, both have won. Given that you can say what the next challenge will be, both of you get to name what you want to see in the challenge. Both ideas will become part of the next challenge. If one idea says you cannot use something while the other idea says you should, the person who says you should wins it. If that means the first idea no longer does anything, that person can suggest something else.

Example: Person 1 says: no gels, person 2 says use blue gel.

Blue gel is to be used, but person 1 can give a new set of rules which can be: don't use the other gels.

So basically, allowing goes over denying.

Can I suggest everything for the next competition?
Well... no. You can suggest most things, but not everyone is skilled in hammer or have mods installed. So your idea must be made possible using just a stock Portal2, so everyone can participate. You can suggest complex or real simple things, but remember, the more complex your suggestion is, the more prone it becomes to misinterpretation.
If you have the idea people may not think of being able to do your idea without a mod, but you know there is a way, add an example. :)

Enjoy!
Any questions, feel free to ask me, and I will happily explain or clarify. If it seems something in this text is not clear, I will of course edit it to make things more clear.

How can you know that a person who has voted has played all the maps in the competition?

You can't, but what's the point in voting if you haven't played the maps? If we suspect cheating in voting, it will be dealt with. So far there was one case where it was suspected, and it didn't impact the competition at all. So I don't expect any problems with cheating here.

I suggest that the line 'Do not make your map be dependent on having additional programs or addons installed.' should make specific reference to BEE2, as that's not obvious to me as a newcomer.

I'll do that. :) thanks.
