The idea for this challenge is to do the following:
For the next I would like to see some cube and button based testing, as in the only way to activate something would be a cube on a button, spheres may be used of course. This would allow no lasers and pedestal buttons, also weighted buttons on the floor or wall so players can press it would not be allowed or should be completely useless.
No way of pressing buttons without a cube can make it challenging to respawn a cube so be carefull it can't be lost...

But if that lightbridge is not in or goes through the area for those 2 puzzles (of course when the player uses them thats not considered bad for the concept) I consider them not part of those puzzles. And if something else links the puzzles together, its fine.

Good question. As long as it is clear that this central area is not part of any of the puzzles AND the puzzles still link events (puzzle 1 activates something in 2 and 2 activates something in 3 etc., I'm fine with it.

The entire idea of this challenge is to add a sense of direction, so a linear map is indeed the outcome of that. Though each puzzle does not have to be linear.

As for your puzzle, you should not use use the lightbridge of puzzle 1 again. Instead make the button deactivate that lightbridge, and activate another in puzzle 2.

You should make it so that the earlier puzzles are not part of the later puzzles, with exception of puzzle 1 providing something for 2, 2 providing something for 3 and if you have more, same thing etc.

But you should not have puzzle 3 require something that can be changed in puzzle 1. Basically once a puzzle is done, it should not be necessary to go there anymore, even though it still is possible. If possible disable key elements upon completing a puzzle, so the player won't revisit it anymore.

1. DeathWish808: By far the best puzzle using the concept: going one direction, ending at another, with a puzzle in between.

2. Nintendo.erk: Was a good puzzle, but the going back and forth made it so I didn't feel that much of going in a circle. It was more like a pre-puzzle, then the contest, then a post-puzzle. 2nd place because the rest was worse...

3. Talisac: I had to choose between 2 puzzles that didn't feel circular at all to me. Josepezdj's map felt way too open to feel like you need to go into one direction, come out at the other, then exit. Talisac's puzzle went around the map a lot too, but the first stage where you can only go one way in a circle made it at least a little bit feel like staying true to the objective. That is until the 2nd round came. The idea is to go into one direction, solve a puzzle go back to the entrance area from another area to exit the puzzle. Neither of these puzzles did that.
