Ok, so I have quite a few of these linked_portal_doors. I have one at the end of the "Elevator" and one at the lobby "Entrance", one at the lobby "Exit" and one in "Level1", and one in "Level2".

The Linked Partner for "Elevator" is "Entrance" and the Linked Partner for "Entrance" is "Elevator". That works well.
The Linked Partner for "Exit" is "Level1" and the Linked Partner for "Level1" is "Exit". That works well.

Now, when I pass a trigger, I SetPartner of "Exit" to "Level2". When I look back at the door, it doesn't show "Level2" but the blank wall of the alcove I put the "Exit" in.

Why does this happen? I've made sure these are pointing in the right direction. I even added a SetPartner of "Level2" to "Exit".

It does seem there isn't much interest for a Hammer Specific competition. Or the standards are set a little too high. Or time. Although no one seems to have complained about too little time, and very few seem to complain about what is asked of them.

However, Hammer-solely created maps do seem to be allowed into the PETI contests, as long as they follow the requirements. These Hammer contests may have sparked inspiration, but it could be that the actual requirement hasn't sparked any puzzle inspiration. That is where the PETI contests seems to provide just that.

Maybe Hammer people could use an element from one of the "failed" Hammer contests in the PETI if they have given enough inspiration. Maybe one or the other isn't enough but together they can become great... Just my 2 electronic coins of thought. ;)

Ok, this was fun. When they explode, their debris are the white plastic covers of the ordinary turrets. I guess it would be too much of a hassle to exchange the models and/or scripts that handle what debris is to be used.

Well, I've found a nutty solution... And while putting these together I'm wondering if I shouldn't maybe turn them into mechanical worms with bazookas. XD

The problem I see when re-using one sound emitter for all the turrets is that if more than one turret sees you only one will actually speak. True, if I have dozens of lines to play on dozens of "global" sound emitters, the chance of the same sound being selected would be sort of small. Although it would be fun to hear a chorus of "Identify yourself or I will shoot." ;)
