Thanks for the post.
This individual is actually someone we're currently looking into and is set to possibly get his own post in the coming days, as we have a lot of information regarding the guy, but appreciative of the list of assets, as they were something we were struggling to locate.
(I am asking because Google just dropped three different things for me for "Cryengine example" and it is a tad difficult to pinpoint which is the one here. I do not mind doing some digging, but I think it is unneeded if someone already uncovered the same thing already.
Valve do not take action against games doing this, this is simply what they dub as "fake games" and don't intend to take any action agains tthem being asset flips, only if something else is occuring with the game.
Still, showed the lengths they would go to keep their income data top secret.
At any rate, the part which started this reminds me: do we have some semblance of information (even if it is a reddit thread) on what can constitute bad enough for Valve to take actions against a game/developer/publisher? It could help when people bump into some dirt to determine if it is simply a shady deal or something that should be reported to Valve so they can pretend to take action.
It may be worth a sticky.
- Tried to bring them to court
- Sent death threats to GabeN
- Wrote their own reviews. And even in this case, many managed to not get ban.
There's also devs that employ bots to farm their games for items to place on the community market.
