FMV's/Music/Sound Effects
FMV and Sounds are in .akb.ogg format as per the Hex Header of "akb/oggs"

Using UnityEX 1.1.5 for extraction/importing
Should be able to do simple swaps edits to the FMV's as they aren't packed.

FMV Directory: "FINAL FANTASY IX\StreamingAssets\ma"
Music is located within the: "FINAL FANTASY IX\StreamingAssets\p0data61.bin"
FMV Sounds: "FINAL FANTASY IX\StreamingAssets\p0data62.bin"
Sound Effects: "FINAL FANTASY IX\StreamingAssets\p0data63.bin"

Just change file extension to .ogg to play the files.
Manged to get some external music playing however seems to have issues looping the tracks or just crashes.

Woo! Awesome. Hoping to see a higher quality audio mod with this!

Well someones going to have to supply a way to import files as every method I've tried has come up empty. Not knowledgeable enough to make my own importer.

The tool UnityEx seems to open both the .assets and .bin of the FFIX files and has a feature to reimport the stuff (though I didn't test it).

That's a russian tool : http://www.zoneofgames.ru/forum/index.php?showtopic=36240

Just tried it on the p0data61.bin with no luck. Just gives an offset error then freezes. (tried cmdline also)

Just tried it, and the version 1.1.6 of UnityEx indeed has problems opening that particular file ><
However, I was using the version 1.1.5 and this one has no problem with it... At least the files are displayed and can be exported properly.

Try to find the version 1.1.5 (if you can't, I'll upload it temporary). Maybe there are other Unity tools that can do the same and with no bug (it seems to me there is a whole jungle of Unity tools ^^").

Currently in bed but I'll take a look tomorrow, an upload would be useful though thanks. Can only find v1.1.6

It works. Can swap music already in the game. Game crashes when I try to just swap for another new ogg file though, I'll keep messing with it.

Update: Got Aerith's Theme to replaced Dali's theme, need to find a way to add a loop though.
Seems to run in the same format as FFIV so will look about the forums see if I can sort it out.

OGGS normally loop with the metadata tags such as LOOP_START,LOOPSTART, and LOOP_END,LOOPEND.

you'd do all that in audacity.

Please find a way to replace the sound effects with the old ones, for example while navigating the menus, opening chests or receiving an item!

Does the game actually USE looping tags though?
If you can extract the .OGG files. Open them with Mediainfo (Mediainfo.net) to see if the loop tags are present.

(Contains lossless A-B comparisons)
The audio quality in this port is pure garbage.(Even the FMVs sound like shit) And an embarrassment to this beautiful game.

If no one else will do it, I wouldn't mind spending a few months doing a replacement mod like I did for Grandia II AE.
