How to describe what I'm talking about? Choices!
Every time say Tidus levels up you go to the menu and instead of the sphere grid option, there's just something that says "Level Up" from there you can change between characters, but while were on Tidus your option for leveling up is to choose between one of four. For Example: Agility, Strength, Accuracy, & HP. When Yuna levels up you would get 4 choices as well but they'd be slightly different. For Example: Magic(how hard her spells/aeons hit or heal). Mana Points(how much MP she has to cast spells), Magic Defense, & Agility. Then the choices could change per level, but every 3 or 4 level ups you get either a new skill, special, spell, or ability to CHOOSE from!
Wakka. For Example: Blind Attack, or Silence Attack
Kimahri For Example: Flee, or Lancet
Lulu For Eample: Fire, Water, Thunder, or Blizzard
Rikku For Example: Mug, or Doublecast, Use, or Luck
Auron For Example: Sentinal, or Armor Break
Yuna For Example: Cure, Esuna, Pray, or Protect
Tidus For Example: Cheer, or Delay Attack
The spell casters should always get four choices, while the physical attackers get two. The skills abilites, specials, or spells that you don't choose woild always be available to choose the next time around along with newer choices. So let's say you chose Delay Attack for Tidus to learn.
Tidus For Example: Cheer, or Provoke
Let's also use Lulu and say you chose Water
Lulu For Example: Fire, Focus, Tunder, or Blizzard
Now the game becomes cruical at what point do you pick a spell, ability, skill, or special. Maybe you messed up and chose a spell but you needed a different spell for a boss battle. Well that's what saves are for. But I believe these choices are awesome to be able to play the game in a unique way and say to your friends "What you chose Death first? No way man I chose Ultima it really helped me out!" And for them to say back to you "Pssh I had rikku give the party Luck and every time I gave Lulu more luck points she hits Death everytime plus Doublecast"
Seriously, the work that would be involved in modifying the Sphere Grid this much to lock you out of nodes because you picked other nodes would be pretty unreal. And destroy the whole system of being able to customize your characters any way you see fit.
I'm not trying to be mean or anything, but this is the kind of stuff that challenge runs are made of, it's a cool idea, but you can do it yourself with the tools the game already offers you if it's what you're interested in doing.
As an aside, paying for mods I'm pretty sure is against some EULA or ToS somewhere.
Even if you skip nodes, you still have to come back to them? Shit maybe neither of us are getting our point across.
@Stufftough - What you are suggesting would make the levelling up EXTREMELY linear. What if I want Yuna as a powerhouse? What if I want Lulu to beat the shit out of people with her Moogle? What if Tidus was the Black Mage and Auron was the White Mage?
The Sphere Grid is perfect as it is. Maybe create a new Grid?
You want Lulu to beat the shit out of people with her Moogle, fine, at least my way you have a much easier chance of doing it. We can change it around however is liked. So fine I'll change it for example again. But I just want it to look different than the Sphere Grid. I don't want to be traveling along a line running into locks and not having enough speed spheres to activate an agility node when you you leveled up and had enough AP to move around. I'm just talking about cutting out the middle man when leveling up.
So we keep the AP leveling system I suppose. And boom you just leveled up every character.
Level 1: Choose one per character. 5 Choices to choose from.
Wakka For Example: Agility +2, Strength +2, HP +200, Magic +2, Magic Defense +4
Yuna For Example: Agility +2, Strength +2, HP +200, Magic +2, Magic Defense +4
Auron For Example: Agility +2, Strength +2, HP +200, Magic +2, Magic Defense +4
Tidus For Example: MP +4, Defense +2,, HP +200, Accuracy +2, Evasion +2
Lulu For Eample: MP +4, Defense +2,, HP +200, Accuracy +2, Evasion +2
Kimahri For Example: Strength +2, Magic +2, HP +200, Evasion +2, Magic Defense +4
Rikku For Example: Strength +2, Magic +2, HP +200, Evasion +2, Magic Defense +4
And I kinda like that its not the same choices for every character at level 1. But say it gets to level 6 it switches up. And continues to switch up every 5 levels.
Level 6: Choose one per character. 5 Choices to choose from.
Wakka For Example: MP +4, Defense +2,, HP +200, Accuracy +2, Evasion +2
Yuna For Example: Strength +2, Magic +2, HP +200, Evasion +2, Magic Defense +4
Auron For Example: Strength +2, Magic +2, HP +200, Evasion +2, Magic Defense +4
Tidus For Example: Strength +2, Magic +2, HP +200, Evasion +2, Magic Defense +4
Lulu For Eample: Agility +2, Strength +2, HP +200, Magic +2, Magic Defense +4
Kimahri For Example: Agility +2, Strength +2, HP +200, Magic +2, Magic Defense +4
Rikku For Example: MP +4, Defense +2,, HP +200, Accuracy +2, Evasion +2
Remember you only get to choose one per level up. Every 3 level ups is a skill, special, spell, or ability as seen in my first post. I think this is a cooler, more strategic way of leveling up, plus it eliminates collecting of the spheres needed to activate the attribute or skill, special, spell, or ability.
All the Expert Grid did was provide extract ability, extract power, etc. It doesn't change how you level up, but again i get that you don't see my vision, I get that you're too limited in your imagination. But let's count the contstructive things you had to say...0. Have a nice day, don't comment on this thread again please and thank you.
Ability nodes would just be generic ability nodes and as your main lv goes up the higher ability can be chosen or maybe there are different lvs of ability nodes like how there are lv locked nodes.. but in the end its pretty much the same as the sphere grid normally lol.
idk theres so many things you could do.
