LR Request: Double Monster till extinction
Hello,

I feel like some sort of modifier to double or tripple the amount of monsters you have to kill before they run extinct would be really cool. I think a flat increase by roughly double would be fine aswell :)

Dude you DO realise that the Meoneketon requires you to kill it 65535 times to bring out it's last one don't you? Double that and the ONLY way anybody ever gets it is through the day 13 secret dungeon. Course that being said verry few people will do it any other way but it's already on of those things you can say "I DID IT THE HAAARD WAY".

I think it would go without saying that Meonekton wouldn't change if this were to exist. 65535 is already impossible, and, if I was guessing (haven't actually looked into it), is the max that the counter can go for this anyway.

65,535 is almost certainly the max. I can't imagine they would have stored the monster count of a species in anything greater than an integer. In any case, this is definitely doable, and it would give you more to do in the game between quests for sure, so I don't think it's a bad request at all. I have a rough guess of two or three places this might be stored at, but I'll need to do some digging.

Something like this would take a bit though, even after finding it. There are a decent number of monsters, afterall. :FFXIII2cactuar:

You are doing this in your free time so do not worry and take your time. I am waiting for "Tales of" Fan translations and since they can take up to 10 years or longer I have learned patience haha :D

O_o, it already takes a lot of time to extinct everyone, I guess some people love 100s of extra hours grinding :)

So krisan mod's to make game harder is ok but not easier? :)

I guess there is good reasons such as thundara and elementa farming tho.

But it will make also some other farming harder as some enemies barely spawn until other enemies are extinct.

So I would like to see a higher spawn rate of chocobo eaters. They very rarely spawn when goblins and the ectopudding's are still around. (dont suggest the major routes, as this is an issue if you need to farm in first 6 days).

I don't mind making things easier, especially if something is dumb - like a really stupid fight that isn't fair at all. But in general I prefer making a game more difficult, because easier only shortens the life of a game, whereas harder increases it. And my philosophy is that modding should make a games life last longer.

But yeah, LR is brand new to me in modding, so.. who knows what I'll end up doing.

The balance change I would like (and yes it makes game easier) is making perfect gaurds easier. Perfect guarding is over powered and as a result in a few fights normal guarding is ineffective as you are expected to perfect guard, to give an example, perfect guarding with light guard is more powerful than normal guarding with heavy guard. Or to make it fairer, make the ring that increases the perfect timing window much more potent, so leave the default window as is but make that ring better.

Hmmm well if you do it you could include it in a new difficulty level? Like make the monsters a little harder to kill.(not the last ones of course they are already difficult on first play through) and maybe up the drop rate of certain harder to find items to compensate for the added difficulty or something.(optional for that last one)

Not to be mean, but... isn't that kind of the point? Perfect guards should be difficult to warrant the power level. Same for perfectly timed attacks to maximize effectiveness. Whirlwind Kick goes from almost useless to most amazing attack ever if you get the timing down, but it's not easy, it's a skill, and the game at least on some level rewards skill over just mashing buttons.

Its too much emphasis on timing, I am not a fan of QTE stuff.

With attacks its easier since you know the timing and attacks dont get as much of a buff, whirlwind kick is an exception.

Whilst this game has some boss's pretty much ignore guarding (cheap mechanics) unless you pull of a really hard to do perfect guard.

End of the day scarlet if a mod is made you dont have to use it. It seems you dont sympathise much with people who dont have that kind of skill level. As it stands that ring barely makes a difference, if SE cannot make items powerful enough to be worth using then dont put them in the game.

I have to admit as good as I am at this game after that first tutorial I hardly use Perfect guard as it is a little hard to pull off paricularly as chrcoluk said during hard bosses such as Aeronite.

I spoke to the guys who made the youtube videos and they said it took 30+ attempts to get it pulled offl.

I did it in 3 but I had one scema with nothing but a maxed mediguard and atb charge and any gear that increased and helped maintain atb and tanked when it hit then a debuff schema with debuff length enhancing and maxed debuffs and finally the third schema with maxed aeroga, light attack, attack and elementa with gear to max offense. Still took all 3 tries to 5 star it. After that whenever I played I hacked the save on my PS3 to give me a huge advantage but without cheating that bastard sucks ass.

I meant it took them 30 attempts to perfect guard every attack.
