Hi Mel
Am I to understand, that you would like us to write here - rather than directly in Trello ?
NullMaster 26 Mar, 2015 @ 3:32pm
Both are fine! In Trello you can only comment on features/bugs that already have a card created, and that's a good place to do it. If you'd like to suggest a new idea or report a new bug that's not yet on our Trello board, this would be the best place to do it.

Hey Mel,

I tried to launch my test game - VLP with 4 players. When clicking on the "play turn" button, I choose to open it with "MRobot.WindowsTaskTray". Game launches, I go to the "load screen", and only see one save with the normal name "GMR Play my turn' (or something like that). When loading I get the turn of Persia instead of Germany. Yesterday I played with the old GMR a turn in my game "Mesopotamia (6FF)", there Persia is the civilization after me in the turn order.

What am I doing wrong, are the two apps having interference?

Have to add that I loaded save file and saved it into hotseat folder. When starting CIV 5, the save file showed. After loading I got kind of setup screen, "staging room", I could if I want still change some of the game options there, I could also check the 'ready status" next to my name wich resulted into the other players being ready too.

At the bottom there were two buttons: "back" and "save game". When clicking "save game" I could save it in the hotseat loading screen, saved it but after that nothing happened :)

I joined a couple games on Stonehenge and I am listed as team 1. there are multiple players set as team 1. but there is also team 2,3,4,5. What is going on here?

This was a bug, should be fixed in our latest build which will go live shortly. Thanks!

Yeah the way that Civ V handles pre-created "game config" files in HotSeat is really wonky! For the purposes of MR though you should only see it on the very first turn of a game, and all you need to do is check the "Ready" mark next to your civ and the game will start. Then play through you turn as normal, end it, save it, and MR will auto submit it for you.

The next player in the game should see the standard HotSeat turn dialog when it comes to them.

This is really strange! If you check the new desktop app does it show that it's your turn in that game? It should be automatically downloading the save file for the game and putting it in the hotseat saves directory with the name "(MR) Test Game - VLP".

It's entirely possible that the current GMR desktop app might interfere with the new MR app. There isn't anything about their designs or the way they're implemented that should make them interfere, but as they're both watching and manipulating the hotseat saves directory it's a possibility. I've been running with both apps for sometime now and haven't noticed any problems myself.

Thanks for the feedback so far, and definitely let us know when you encounter any issues!

New build is now up. Changes:
  • Fixed some layout issues in Firefox
  • Fixed team defaulting to 1 on all new player slots
  • Increased session timeout to 30 minutes (should help to prevent the refresh page message)
  • Windows app now shows all games, not just started ones

Game cancelling / leaving a game you created didn't quite make it in, but we'll have that soon.

How can you tell which player is the host when you look at a game in the web app? There is no "(host)" marking visible and mousing over a player's portrait does not bring up any info (like it does in the old GMR web).

I am guessing that the first player listed is the host (checked NulMaster's games), however, this then brings up another question, how can you tell whose turn it is?
Tazzik 27 Mar, 2015 @ 6:36pm
You'll find the host in the Permissions section, as well as any other permissions which have been granted to other users. You can see whose turn it is in two places: one is in the turns section, which will show the current turn at the top. The other place is the game overview page, which will have a large section for the player who's currently up (this only displays once a game has started).

Thanks Tazzik, I am now able to find both the host info and the current turn info, looks good. I guess after a short time all players will get used to the new way.

The list of games - under Accounts - does not show the Game progress (it does not show me, that it's my turn)

I found out because Pieter wrote to me. I entered the Game page - where it was shown - that it was my turn. (I then reloaded the Accounts page - and it still didn't show my turn)

I am writing it here - because I was not able to find the right place to write it in Trello.

Hey Gert, we're planning on making the games summary page[new.multiplayerrobot.com] show each game that it's your turn in, with an option for downloading them right there. The games shown under the Account page are simply for reference to other people.

We do have a Trello card for finishing the Games Summary page: https://trello.com/c/u85VPPdg/114-show-current-turns-on-games-overview-page
gertadam 28 Mar, 2015 @ 11:51am
Yeah sounds right - every solution that will make us have access to downloading & uploading without having to call the DB with requests that are not relevant to the task at hand.

My immediate question would be - given you present a list of games - how would the Uploader know which game I am dragging to the site ? I hope you understand - my words are clumsy.
