Not limit to the translation guide only

Why not use this group, not only for the translate of 1 guide, but for example, to translate the pinned thread headers, FAQ?

And not only in the Steam hub, but in others, where there is no language sub-forums
(in contradistinction to some game hubs, where all the information is translated into the languages of the largest community of players)

the only difficulty is how to publish the translation, so that users see that the guide has a version in his language?

either in the title indicate the names of languages, or make a few posts, combining linguistic groups?

Почему бы не использовать эту группу не только для перевода одного руководства, но например, для перевода закрепленных тем, FAQ?

И не только в хабе Steam, но и в других, где нет своих языковых подфорумов (как у некоторых игр, где вся информация переведена на языки наиболее крупных сообществ игроков)

единственная сложность, как опубликовать перевод, чтобы пользователи увидели, что в руководстве есть версия на его языке?

либо в названии указывать названия языков, либо делать несколько постов, объединяя в языковые группы

I'm not sure what you want to translate. But if you want to rehash this group for other translations (own iniative) feel free, we'll make a few new subforums :)

I do not know how better: not all languages have their own language subforums :/
and it's problem

I just thought, if translated, it will be easier to communicate with users: when someone asks a question in the wrong forum, or a question that already answered, provide a link to the FAQ or sticked post, but it's not translated, and the user does not understand what to do, just think "that forum is unfriendly" and ""evil moderators" give meaningless links and close post"

I'll think about it but to me it feels like this needs a different approach than the one we chose here.

this is just a suggestion and an invitation to all think about it and discuss how best to do this, where translation will be placed: in the body of the message, in the form of links to other language forums, or as a links to guide

I think that some of these topics would be nice to translate for those unable to speak English. However you need to be carefull with how far you take it - I think it will make users who do speak English start posting in their first language instead. It will become a huge mess if that happens.

First I think moderators in these forums have to decide whether or not its even worth translating something. You could translate all these topics in alot of languages but if nobody ever reads them.. no point. I think when moderators in their forums notice that alot of users do not speak English and thus lack any understanding of the rules/FAQ written there in English they could try to get some things translated. However again, it might increase the amount of non-English posts in these forums too, we should encourage everybody who can, to speak in English.

I think it is something we could work with, however simply translating these topics and put a link in the original topic is not going to cut it.

Users are already written in their own languages everywhere, without looking at it, in which the hub or topic they write - Posts by Dota 2 players can be found anywhere, except in private developer's forums
This chaos could easily stop by separating Dota 2 and other F2P users from the rest, more adequate players...

and not only translate sticked threads, I suggest to translate templates of moderator's posts, when the topic is closed and the user is redirected to a more suitable topic / chapter / hub

for example, the latest information about VAC and cooldowns etc. is only attached to the topic CSGO - why not translate? I even know who could do it: https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/id/LoIIipop anyway, he did nothing here, (because there are already 3 translators for Russian, two of which actually started the whole this story with the translation of the most popular / useful guidelines and FAQ) but he know CS GO game and rules perfectly

Once I just translated the manual and encouraged to follow other STS translators.
"A small pebble thrown in the water can cause a tsunami" - I said it when about a year ago has translated this manual (first) or as it says in Valve: "The right person in the wrong place can change the world" (c) G-man
I managed to provoke and "infect" by idea of translation or writing guides on topical issues a some people :)

I cannot speak for the entire forum obviously, I do not think you can either. I do subscribe to the cs:go forums whenever I am online and see almost every new created post. Lets say that 3/10 of them are not written in English and I think I mostly encounter russian, german and polish.

What templates are we talking about here? Also when do we know what language a poster is from if he is speaking in English, do we even want to respond in another language if his post is in English? Even if his post is in his language, and the mods speaks English and want to use a translated post, does he need to translate the topic first? How do we even determine somebody lacks the ability to speak English?

Nice that you are actively looking for people to translate, though we should first decide whether or not it is worth it.

I like your idea of translating these sticky topics, but translating moderators posts is to much.. I do not even think they use "templates". I will think about it later, for maybe a good way to do this, I just lack a little time currently.

I think this idea has great potential, but there may be a better approach to how it's done. Not sure what, but there's gotta be something.

Also, as mentioned, it really depends on which topics would actually NEED to be translated.

TLDR: Is it worth it?

No one is forcing you to participate in the translation, I will still translate, and I hope I shall find among the moderators of the person who posted the translation or a link to it

Given that many translators here from STS is here crept "disease STS" - instead of translation - discussing the translation, and say whether it can be better to do nothing, "we English-language chauvinists and understand everything is clear, but the one who does not speak English let him seek the solution, as he can..."

Translators during the year can not decide how best to translate, and whether to do it at all, and at this time, millions of users overwhelmed support and forums with questions, the answers to which have written long time ago , just not translated into the users languages...

i'm "floating" in the terminology (I do not play this game), and there are questions as to translate terms +in different sources of information is a bit different?
consulted with the players and they have made some changes

difficult "to work in the trash"
Plus, I have many other things along the way I translate when people have a problem and a solution is available only in English
Usually with such issues users make tickets to Steam support or to the developer / publisher of the game

and I do not like how to make these sticky topics, like the old ship that mending with patches... it'so look like old wiki of support Steam, before migrate to a single HelpDesk

So you already translated some posts/topics? Where are you providing this translation to the users then?

Translations are first time published in a closed group, which actually translates and writing these FAQs & guides - after proofreading and checking they are added to the main FAQ in Russian-speaking forum (or not)
or in a forum group Russia, some of the texts published in games hubs
(but there they are not attached, so drowning in spam for badges)
Another question: Why do you care?
I am now more worried about why the crowd translators of STS half a year - year can not translate the texts of Steam support?
Why do some translations appear in support knowledge base a month after I translated and published them in the Russian-speaking forum? (Although on STS they did not exist)?
