Why aren't you using Skrill?
Hello,

I understand that a majority of people uses PayPal to make the trades. And in this thread I'm going to show you why you're wrong.

Why Skrill?

- Skrill is a payment system, just like paypal. Based on the UK, blablabla. You can only charge Skrill using your Bank Account, a paysafecard or your Credit Card. The money you send has fixed fees (1%), wherever you send it.

Yeah, so the fees are lower, just that? Sometimes I don't pay fees on PayPal ...

- Well, the 1% is a small price to pay for the security you (the seller) have. There's almost no chance for you to get chargedback. Yes, I mean it. I've talked to fraudsters (yes, the guys who do the whole chargeback thing on YOU) and they have given up on Skrill, because it's very hard to get the money in there. There's no donation button, you can't accept payments from Credit Cards just like that. You need to have a permission from Skrill to do that.

But nobody uses Skrill ...

- Not yet. Having the approval of a big trading community like SourceOP, Skrill would replace PayPal in a few weeks/months.

Bottom line:

Skrill

- Lower Fees (1%)
- Almost no Chargeback
- Credit card you can request to use the money on your account (bonus)

PayPal

- Higher fees (2.5% + ? fees for switching currencies)
- Higher change of getting stolen funds (and a chargeback)

So, said that, why aren't you using Skrill?

It isn't popular because you don't want to. I don't really understand why you like to have paypal's "buyer's always first" security and pay higher fees.

Paypal have higher fees to help run the site, because of its high amount of users, so that being said, if skrill was to become as popular as paypal I wouldn't be surprised if they increased the fees. Also, more users on skrill means a higher chance of some of them committing charge back scams.

Paypal is a trusted site not just for steam trading but for most of online buying, it has a very large reputation and is more trusted than skrill, therefore I doubt people would switch to skrill, even with the lower fees.

Nooge. Believe me when I tell you that getting chargebacks on Skrill is difficult as hell. The fraud part up there is true. Guys with years of experience say putting money on Skrill is difficult as hell. And hacking isn't really an option, because you need the person's birthday to do transfers.

Is trusted, but few no that PayPal f*cks people with a lot of legit money. Even people who deal on eBay.
Bottom line:

Paypal

- Verified
- Trustworthy
- Populur
- Secure
- Extremely Reputable with minimal chargeback

Skrill

- Unknown
- Unknown
- Unpopular
- Trustworthy? Unknown.
- Unknown
- Secure?? Unknown.
- Safe? Unknown...
- Hardly any chargebacks because nobody uses the site for these ^ reasons.

I (and most everyone else) doesn't know much at all about Skrill, dispite my months of online trading/using sites like Paypal, and that is exactly the reason why I should not just let it "replace paypal". Not until it receives more trafic, is proven trustworthy, is more popylar from within the :RogueMoneybags: trading community, and is proven to be extremely reputable and secure/safe like Paypal has proven to be on so many occasions.

Yes, everyone knows paypal. But a lot of people get fucked by it everyday. I could get hacked pp account all day and buy shit from you and other sellers and you'd always be the guy who gets raped, not paypal, not the hacked person. In Skrill you need DOB to move funds. You can't put CC money in there just like that, you need a lot of documents in order to do that.

Skrill isn't that known in the TF2 community, but if you check the Russian/Asian traders on Dota2 traders, a lot of them use it.
