Automated phishing bots
Sorry if someone already asked this, but isn't there a way to prevent/remove all the automated phishing bots from Outpost? It has become veeery annoying lately, more than usual, everytime I bump my post I get added by 1 or 2 bots, that always send a phising link asking me to add another account that wants to "trade" with me.

:rshocked:

There is nothing we can do on our end. The only interaction between the phishers and outpost is them scrubbing the front page for SteamID numbers/profile links and then adding them directly through the Steam client.

If we were to remove that information, it would cripple the site and do nothing in the long term as that information can be found anywhere your profile is publicly seen.

Valve did take some action not too long ago where they limited the number of friend requests you could send out in a single day, but reversed it for some reason.

I understand, thanks for the answer.

Every time I bump my trades I get a level Zero account Phishing me. I understand you don't think there is anything you can do about it, this coupled with the Premium membership, and the fact you made me join your group to post in this forum is extremely disappointing. Why should I pay for this type of service :*(
Block em, my list is evergrowing with tons of accounts who will NEVER EVER be able to interact with me again. Ofc they're gonna replace them but still, that's so much possible spam blocked and it just feels awesome to have all this trash black listed xD

Heh, you probably have some "interesting" offers up then.

Or a very valuable BP, or autobumping (cause you donated) and so on.

I don't have any of that atm ;D (luckily it seems)

90% of phishers are hijacked accounts.
they just get another bot anyway, blocking does nothing except f*ck over some person who might be a potential trade in the future

Better block them than have them add you all the time.

Also if they get phished by this braindead stuff then they're probably not the best people to trade with, more of the weird ones who misunderstand everything by default.

i dont think you can block all of them because the blocks also count against your friend cap. I just report each phishing link and copy and paste the message itself.
I would suggest we convince steam to send out humanity checkers (Like the kind you find on forum or website registers) at some points in time. Could help root out bots in general

It would be as simple as to block every noob account that adds 100 people an hour and then sends them some random message with the words "my friend" in there.

But steam don't got brains so nvm.

Bump your own posts to bait them and ban them to access site Or make the site login only? Really i am sick and tired with all these pishers at my every bump...

Making the site login only will destroy SEO and hurt the traders using it. Bumping our own trades is useless - most ignore staff trades.

Create fake accouts to bump? i know this is hard work to ban them all manually but if you want to get rid of these pisher bots you must do something cause everyday new accounts hijacked because of this and joins the army of bots..

I stupidly downloaded the software the phishing link provided like a week ago, to supposedly "authenticate" my account, I think I couldn't open the file, maybe because I use Windows XP, or maybe because my antivirus stopped it from executing, but now I realize how I was so naive to download it. But aside from all that, my account haven't been used, nor hacked. Also, I haven't received any authentication codes from Steam to verify that another one has tried to access my account.

I feel so dumb that now I'm realizing I fell for this. I will proceed to change my password immediately and hope that this just ends in a warning and lesson for the future.
