dispenser.tf is safe?
It became popular now and many users on Outpost use it, but I have the impression that Valve could ban the bot one day or the other... Do they have a good reason to do that? I know only an earlier case, the bot used by Playblink for accepting gifts as donation, and because this ban it has blocked their site to work properly for about 1 month or so.

Things to take into consideration:

1. You're entrusting your items with a third-party website, should anything go wrong Valve will not be able to help you
2. A bot you have items on could get hijacked and all your items stolen
3. If your Steam account gets hijacked the phisher might or might not have access to the items on the bot as well
4. An exploit on the site or on Steam could be found and abused by someone with ill intent
5. Valve could ban the bots for whatever reason and it takes time to get them unbanned
6. Site owner could at any time run off with everyone's items

I'm not saying that any of these will happen it's just something you need to think about. That said the site features 2-step authentication to protect your items from falling into the wrong hands and from my knowledge there has been a case where some hacker wannabe managed to steal items from a bot, everyone affected has been refunded though.

Ultimately it's up for you to decide if it's worth the risk or not.

Just to clarify, I'm not interested in using their site. This is a question I raised for the general interest.

Well it does work and many people use it. It's popular with game sellers.
So its officially allowed to use dispenser.tf links on tf2op? One of my trades got closed once for advertising, long time ago tho

There is also the problem these links are marked as green by TF2Outpust, suggesting a safety I don't think they deserve.

dispenser.tf links are allowed as they offer a different kind of service than Outpost so it doesn't really count as advertizing.
