Just Curious?
Anyone else been banned after being harassed and then you eventually reply back and Bam! you, not the provoker gets banned?

I was very ill not to long ago and offered on a summer hat thinking it was uncraftable, not the craftable 2-3 bud ones. So I made an offer and he was not happy about my mistake. I apologized and thought we moved on, only to find out besides the half dozen rude and belittling texts on his trade, he spammed mine with rude and or dumb comments and finally I replied on my trade I think that he was a raging blank blank. Granted no rudeness, so a ban I guess was deserved. But c'mon what about the so and so that provoked this mess cause he had to rage and could not accept that human beings are not perfect.

I am not ban complaining or whatnot, just curious if any other hard working honest rule (mostly) abiding traders have gotten banned in this way? a rude comment or 2 replied to someone who is intentionally harassing and or spamming you on your thread.

It's happened before to many users. People need to realise that the only way to respond to harassment is to report and block the users, then move on. Responding back harshly or rudely is breaking the sites second rule, thus why you were banned.

No insults. We do not tolerate any kind of abusive language or general rude attitude towards any users.
Thanks for the reply. I don't mean to be rude, but I clearly pointed out what I did and that it was against the rules and wrong. So I am obviously aware and your copy & paste of a rule I already said I am (at least now) aware of and know was broken seems to be kinda pointless unless meant for others.

I was just asking others who have been in that situation, you know expressing my feelings and all that to share if so inclined. This post has nothing to do with Why I was banned or if it was unjust, etc...

I am just asking others if they have been in this type of situation
eg: they were bothered in one way or another and did not report it, thinking themselves petty or the issue resolved, etc.. and in return got the short end of the stick.

Anyway, I deserved the ban! No denying it, I did curse and reply back rudely after several rude replies and thread spamming from said person.

In my opinion though, it would be nice if staff would punish both parties when a report is made and both are in the wrong. But instead only the reported gets a ban. But... that is my fault for not reporting him instead of reacting.

I've had plenty of experiences where traders act exeptionally rude or intentionally try to scam me. I have also been banned for citing someone on my trade. I think the biggest problem with outpost is that because they are so short cut on staff, I feel obligated to take things into my own hands. It doesnt feel good to be verbally assulted, and then to have to wait a month for resolution (often much after I had forgoten about the whole matter).

I know the outpost rules are meant to help the community as a whole, but I also know that outpost is not equiped to take up such an extreme task. When mods do finally get to a case, it seems that they do often miss important details of the situation. I would love to just browse outpost and flag every abusive comment, but I dont feel like im helping in the slightest.

To sum it up, unless outpost plans on a substantial increase in staffing, the community might as well be self policed. I guess im arguing for the right to confront sellers about the value of their items, the right to verbally defend myself, and to be honest, theres a reason we have explicit words... Theres a time and a place for everything, and with the mods stretched so thin it seems fair that the outpost rules should become less stringent.
We have no trade/post ticket backlog, I don't know where this is coming from.

Also, we do this on our free time as it is voluntary work. If you expect staff online 24/7 to address tickets within a minute they are submitted then you are expecting too much.

Dont have exact details, but the last ticket I submited took just under a month to be addressed. I am in no way attacking the outpost staff. You guys work very hard to keep the site up and running. I am only questioning the strictness of the rules with such limited rescources.

The last ticket you submitted took 4 days to be addressed.
Check your facts before badmouthing us.

The insult rule has been around for three years now, and if one thinks it is too strict to expect people to respect their peers then they can do their trading elsewhere.

http://outpost.gg/bsod/ht2yty.png - clearly both users deserve the same punishment...

If someone harasses/insults you, report them. Do NOT fight back, EVER. There are rules, and there are people to enforce these rules. If you attempt to fight back you will suffer the consequences.
