About relisting.
I was wondering if you guys could clear something up for me. I get it relisting is bad, but what constitutes relisting?
Recently I created 4 stores, in all four of them I added specific uncraftable hats that im looking for, thats a total of 32 different uncraftable hats Im interested in aquiring, and in the store description I stated that im looking for any of those specific uncraftable hats, not all uncraftable hats, but those specific uncraftable hats. How is this considered relisting? all of the 32 hats are different, 32 different items, and yet I got 2 of the 4 stores closed so apparently Im not buying 32 different specific hats now but 16. Any help?

if your post is that confusing, your "stores" might be confusing to people as well..

each store basically says "buying any of these hats" and all different hats on each store, so 32 different hats

I would hardly call them "stores", nothings actually being stored, so it seems unnecessary.

If you were buying them all for the same price, then you could accomplish it with one trade, simply by putting a list in the description. If you were buying for different prices, there's no reason for it to be relisting.

ok, thanks, that makes sense :D

Actually, it does not make sense to me. What is so different in these trades to scrap banking trades where you have multiple trades open with different weapons (selling or buying)?

All four trades had different hats he is looking for in the wishlist. The notes said: "any of these dirty hats", not "any dirty hat". Why would it matter that he's buying them all for the same (ridiculously low) price?
Someone selling a specific hat and searching for buyers would not find his trade if there was just one trade with a subset of the hats he's looking for and a list of the other hats in the description.

"Relisting is creating multiple trades for the same purpose,"
all trades had a different purpose, to buy a specific hat shown in the wishlist

"or listing the same item in multiple trades excessively."
not the case here

well, that was my reasoning for asking why they were closed, but apparently its relisting

Seems like even if he is offering different prices he is still looking for different items. Why would it be re-listing, yeah he could put all the 32 hats in a list in the notes, but the sites Search feature isn't going to search the notes so only the people selling the 8 hats in the trade would find it. As long as the same hat isn't showing up in several of the trades I don't understand why that would be re listing?

so, is it relisting or not if I open four stores buying 8 different specific hats on each of the stores?

It all comes down to who's reviewing your report. Different mods have different opinions and some might jump in and close your threads without taking a moment and thinking a bit.

In my book relisting is anything that shows up in the results multiple times when searching for a specific item. If I search for people buying Batter's Helmets, I don't wish to see the same person's trade 5 times on the same page (your trades wouldn't fall in this category). Or if the same person's items do show up more than one time, the trades should be for different purposes. For example, when I search for buds and I find the same person buying unusuals or exchanging it for a preorder game in different trades, that's completely fine and doesn't bother me.

so as long as I put different hats that dont overlap and I ask for those specific hats I should be ok then

just saying, this person for example has 9 stores buying the exact same thing, is this relisting even if he states in all the 9 stores he is buying the same item? Im buying different items on 4 different stores but mine are considered relisting?

If I were a mod I wouldn't count it as a relist, since it has no negative effect on other user's searching experience but others will disagree since he's buying any craft hat instead of just these crafts (even though technically there would be no difference) and that he could do that with one trade (sure but then he'd get less traffic and people who're selling a specific craft hat might not find his trade).
Skakavac 7 Apr, 2013 @ 11:57am
yeah, thats my point, he repeats the craft hat icon on all 9 stores and buys ANY craft hat on all of those stores, me on the other hand buy SPECIFIC dirty hats, all different, none relisted in any of my stores.

Ok, at least somebody notices the difference ._. I hope I dont get banned for this.
