I had an earbud and saw someone with an unusual I liked. I then offered it for that hat and got it.

That's how most people get their first unusual I would believe.

I have countless occasions where i could have got my first unusual, but i can't part with my buds that easily, many have offered unusuals for 'em but I got my buds through logging in with a mac (I'm the buds' original owner as it is). I like them alot, more than any other hat/misc combined.

I slowly worked my way up by buying things for a slightly lower price and then selling them for more. some good examples are certain stranges, paints, and some hats/miscs. Once i had a bit over a bud (~ 1.2-1.4) mostly in keys and metal i bought my first unusual. (A stormy storm dapper). It takes time and patience if you not going to buy buds/keys with real world money.

I went for a cheap one that i liked. The N&B Prince Tavish crown that is. Go for a cheap unusual to start with. Also, when i unboxed my very first unusual which was, ironiclly during christmas eve, i unboxed my first nice crate and got an unusual Bonk Boy with Blizzardy Storm (which is even more ironic). It all depends on your strategy. Unboxing an unusual is extremely rare, and if you only want an unusual and you want it now, you don't care what unusual you get, i suggest that go for a cheap "cancer" unusual with a "cancer" effect, such as the purple confetti Football helmet. Your way to get the unusual depends on your patience.

Well... i traded my ts bills and tons of items for a very low-tier unusual but it worked and im workin my way up to a better unusual.

October 26th 2010, Had about 8 non vintage hats, traded them for a tf2 logo tricorne (back when people only traded for what they want)

I'm a beginner, and am looking forward to get an unusual. I'm checking for prices, for effects, to see which one I like. But what I like the most is spending time on the Outpost to make some trades, and what I really want is an unusual for which I can get loads of trading material.

I'm doing as Knight Power did, and slowly trying to work my way up. But geez, it's hard. I hardly seem to find something that I can lowball and then oversell.

I hacked this kid with an unusual, then i took it and sold it for admin at tf2outpost

I unboxed an unusual with my first key, then some guy added me named "rgene" or something and promised me free games if I gave him the password to my account. Next day my unusual was gone. :(

unboxed it, i did, 19 unusuals unboxed. :)
