A question about fairness in pricing and the rules regarding it
The rules say " you should not report offers or trades that set what you think to be a price that is either too high, or too low." - I had one of my trades closed, the reason cited was "unrealistic wishlist". I have since then been reporting the trades I see with "unrealistic wishlists" as I believed they were against the rules, or that the moderators/admins would care about these trades and want to close them. If this is not the case, is there a chance you could you re-open my trade? I am eager to know where you stand on this.

I'm curious as to what your trade was? There is a difference between prices that are not in-line with "market value" and someone trying to get vintage buds for a few weapons.

Edit --

It was this one http://www.tf2outpost.com/trade/6206933 that you are referring to isn't it?

That trade is different than what the rules are regarding. The rules are concerning someone trying to buy craft hats for 1.22 or an unusual for a bud less than its "market value", that trade is just unrealistic. The only way someone would take that is if they didn't understand the value of their strange festive in which case you would basically be sharking them.

My trade was closed for a reason the rules of the site say not to report trades for and I want some clarification on the rules
Are you a mod did you write these rules I can't see you on the list of mods I don't really care what you think if you're not :( Sorry

Being rude to others doesn't exactly help your case. The mods are not going to just come to anyone's call and answer everyone who wonders why their trade was closed, otherwise we'd be here for months.

As for why your trade was closed, that rule you cite is made for people who will report on small differences of a scrap to a refined, basically nothing of high value. Your trade was items worth a few keys for something that was worth a few buds (the last time I checked, not up to date on strange prices, but I know stranges from the first batch of festives are expensive). Your trade was closed due to the massive difference in value from what you offer to what you were asking.

As for re-opening the trade, TF2Outpost does not have that capability, even if the mods wanted to. (Which wouldn't happen in this case anyway.)

Why are you answering him/her/it? And with the same answer (albiet a longer version) I gave him/her/it.
Clearly he/she/it does not want answers.

Mostly just backing up the idea that one does not need to be a mod to answer someone's question when it's that simple. As for why I cited the rules, I don't really know, I guess I just have that tendency.
I want an answer from the mods and I've not got one from using the "contact" section of the website. I don't need opinions on this, saying "oh but that's different" is exactly my point. I don't feel it's rude to say I don't care what you say it's just a fact

And it's just a fact that the answer to your question is common sense and the mods shouldn't have to waste their time answering it.

You are offering less than 10% of the market value. That is either a troll trade or a shark attempt. Both are against the rules, it's that simple.

A rule of thumb was/is:
if you are offering / asking for less / more than a third to half / double to triple - with reasonable leeway for Unusuals - of the market value, the trade is fair game to report and may be closed.

Thanks for the clear and concise ruling, you have certainly cleared things up here.

1. It would be helpful if you actually posted a link to your trade that was closed.
2. Let's not be rude to others, right now, I'm not very inclined to offer my assistance.
3. It would probably fall under the rule of common sense, you're not going to be able to buy an unusual with one key or a key with one refined etc.
Alright so if there are trades that are breaking the "common sense" rule should I report them?

If it's absolutely clear to anyone with a common sense that the trade is a joke, you may. Otherwise just ignore it.
Thanks :) That was the sort of trade I was reporting, where the confusion came from was the rules say not to report trades for not liking the prices with no further clarification. I'm also wondering what can be done about trades that are being autobumped while not having the items in stock, should these be reported? I'd rather not spam people's trades with "pls no bump" but at the same time a lot of users hate that these trades clog up their search results.

proper sorry if I seemed rude before I'm not a people person

Trades that are being bumped without stock can be reported, Just make sure they actually have none of the items in their backpack because some people forget to update their trades.
