how rare are they and how much would be a estimated price for them?

It's a glitch and it wears off when the item is traded, so they're not worth much.

Actually, no there not. my friend gave me a painted bills to try it, and it stayed, and worked.

It's an expired halloween spell, it's value is non existent, the effect will be removed when the item is traded.

Interesting, well most people who I talked to said it randomly wore off, so maybe the trigger that does that is faulty. Another person wrote that the date is reset every time you trade it, so you have to trade it back and forth in order for it to maintain the effect.

Bottom line is, I wouldn't pay extra for a glitchy item that's like a ticking bomb and might get fixed anytime. So if people are asking for Buds or unusuals for a color changing Bill's Hat, don't fall in the trap.

Just traded for a colour-changing hat yesterday. Wasn't too expensive and TBH I've never really planned been a very successful trader, so i wasn't sorry to see a bunch of items that I don't really use get trade for something really cool (even if it turns out to be temporary). As for how long the effect will last, I honestly don't know but the effect still works even though it was traded to me. I still really like the hat regardless of whether the effect stays, so I'm pretty satisfied.

There were some "glitched" items that remained in user's backpacks after Halloween that should have normally expired. The effect on those has worn off after some time.

However there's a trick that allows you to still paint items if you kept some spells. So items painted AFTER the Halloween event will have the effect forever (or until gaben decides to fix it). I think it's safe to say that all the glitched items that were like ticking bombs are now out of circulation.

If thats true then I am very relieved. I dont see colour changers being patched any time soon, as they hold so much value, If they patched them then there would not only be an uproar from traders, but also a fair bit of wealth removed from the tf2 economy but who knows, thats just my thoughts on it. I REALLY hope they dont get removed, as I love having such a unique item.

Not all colour changing items are out of circulation, I still have my cosmic corruption Bill's Hat that still works on all servers I've been on so far, I hope it doesn't get patched. it most likely will though, I guess I should try and sell it to turn over a profit while I can

Did you paint your hat during Halloween (before the effects were supposed to expire) or did you get it from a trade after that?
