Another Topic About Reports
I'd imagine the good people of OP recieve a hefty amount of reports daily and a good portion useless or menial. So I just wanted to say we should promote self moderation. I do not mean let people perma hide posts or any kind of admin tool. But I do mean instead of just perma hiding a minor negative comment. We should take the time to tell people how to deal with it themselves I'm sure that most aren't recurring problems so no need to bust out the ban hammer.

Anyone agree with that? And even more so is there a chance we can get some admins to do that?

EDIT:

I'd like to that those who already employ this its really a nice blief and helps with reports; well I think it should.

I agree that its always nice to guide a person to the answer rather than just report them, but most of the time mods or admins do not have time to answer to each request individually. If the community could come together and help those who arent as savvy with Steam it would benefit everyone over all. Small instances of good will grow into big positive changes : )

Instead of reporting someone, then hiding the post, for an offense that is only worth hiding the post.

Example: Trade has some refined and is asking for some hats, and the user sets their own price, someone comes along and says "lol", the person then hides their post and reports it to us.

Please stop reporting stupid stuff like that, just hide the post.

Like duck said.
Its a pain in the ass with butthurt people "OMFG HE SPMD MY TRAD"
Just press the hide button, it will do the same as if we where to do it, exept it would be forced to be closed and display a reason.

Exactly my point, but there seems to be a good amount that are exactly as you said but someone actually perma-hid it and reason. Just saying we should instead just tell them that its not worth it and just hide it themselves.

Oh, and about perma-hidden posts that cannot be seen...
I think perma-hiding posts by moderators should be disabled. If perma-hidden post contains some bullying or meaningless shit, then there's no reason for trade owner to want it to be hidden permanently. If there is, then it probably contains something that he doesn't want others to know. Probably involving unfair methods of ripping people off.

Or it contains phishing links or useless spam you wouldn't want to read anyway.

Phishing links is actually the only thing that should be hidden permanently(because a lot of silly people believe that a magic software will get them free hats).
Spam can just be hidden by trade owner. And it can also be very entertaining to read, so there's no need to hide it from others.
As for me, since I'm not trying to rip people off, I always prefer to explain why my price is fair, why that spam makes no sence, etc., rather than reporting everyone.
My personal opinion is that people who report others for anything like like "lol, good luck selling it for that price" actually do realize that they are annoying, therefore they just dont know what to say.
