Accidentally traded a scammer - looking for advice.
Okay, so I just bought an unusual from a guy who added me. Afterwards, I checked the unusual's history and found out that he was marked on steamrep as a scammer. I'm just finding out about this now.

Am I going to be in any kind of trouble for trading with the guy? Is it my fault for not checking his steamrep before I traded with him?

I'm kind of worried... Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks.

It is your fault for trading with a marked scammer, and for not checking his SR, but as a general rule, you are given a caution the first time. (As in a don't do it again caution, not an SR caution.)

I understand. Thank you, especially for the warning. I'll be sure to check steamrep for scammers before I trade anyone in my best interest.

Trading with scammers accidentally is common as far as I've seen. My friend didn't even know what hat it was he traded to a scammer and then suddenly ban for the week. I'm sure you don't have to check with lower items all the time as the likelihood is much lower but for unusuals I would especially since now you got warning.

Don't worry about it, everyone makes mistakes from time to time. But Steamrep is a good tab to always have up on your browser when someone random adds you or something like that. Use it effectively

I hope you mean don't worry about it now. You can get banned for repeatedly trading with scammers.

Trading with scammers are common, but checking their SR is kind of needed. Though you should be given a chance as it is the first time
So we have to check everyone's profile on steamrep for every trade?

Not for every trade. But for high value items, yes.
I would guess that less than a bud's worth trade is safe to not have to check too closely.

For those I rely on OP to auto-ban marked users.
I always look up the user's profile on OP, random add or not.

SR doesn't bother with anything under a Bill's in value. (Excluding Unusual trades, you should never trade unusuals with a scammer.)

From FAQ: http://forums.steamrep.com/pages/faq/

SteamRep's policy is to be understanding when an innocent trader makes a mistake or when the monetary value is relatively low.

DataStorm has mentioned the Bill's numerous times, I'm just looking for a quote for you.
